This video shows you how to install a water pump and timing belt on your 2011-2018 Volkswagen Jetta. The water pump keeps coolant flowing through your engine. Common failures of the water pump will leave the coolant leaking, or stagnant. Both will lead to overheating if left untreated. Install a new engineered to fit water pump from TRQ for total peace of mind.

This repair was done on a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta S 2.0L Sedan 4-Door FWD Manual and the process should be similar on the following vehicles:

I did this timing belt, water pump and tensioner replacement yesterday. It was totally doable! Took my about 5 hours but I was really taking my time and documenting the process. In my case I actually didn't need to remove the alternator. But other than that I followed this video exactly. Thank you for this upload. Great video. Also I would recommend anyone doing this type of work to purchase a Bentley manual def helps as a reference for torque values etc.

Thank you to this awesome mechanic and team at TRQ!!! This video helped me install my timing belt on my 2015 base model (manual) Jetta 2.0. The only thing I did different was not remove the alternator which saved time for sure. (I only needed to remove the top bolt of the alt' in order to remove that power steering fluid bracket which also locks in the serpentine belt tensioner.)

This has to be the best video on youtube explaining a timing belt replacement, and certainly in the running for best explaination of anything mechanical on youtube as well.

That said, I just did the timing belt on a p2 volvo and have to do this job on my 2017 jetta 1.4 tsi. The volvo timing belt replacement had a lot less steps, but VW certainly has the waterpump part down.

Great how to. But the motor mount bolts should be replaced because they are stretch bolts.

Extremely helpful video man! I would note that on my 2014 Jetta S 2.0L (CBPA) 5spd manual required T30's for the lower timing belt covers. I REALLY WISH VW would put timing marks on the crank sprocket and block. I've verified timing now 3 times putting the harmonic balancer and lower timing belt cover back on and I've marked it, but it still skeeves me out not having manufacturer's timing marks on at least 2 points of reference on the actual head, block, and both sprockets.

Great video! Harbor Freight represent!! (except for the snap-on torque wrench ;-) ... for those asking, this is a 2.0L / 4-cylinder, better known as a 2.slow.

Yes, Jetta's still use timing belts... except for the 1.8 TSI and GLI?
