Dear OM, that is very good work and I also like your garden and view. One thought that you may want to look into: There is a large discussion about if you need a counterpoise for an EFHW. I think, it needs one. It is good practise to have a little counterpoise (lambda * 0.05) at the ground from the coax connector of your transformer. Alternativly you can use the shield of the coax between the transformer and the choke. That means you have to consider the lengthe between choke and transformer to be 0.05 lambda of the lowest planned frequency (4 m @ 80 m). EZNEC modelling supports the effect of the counterpoise. I’ve gone back to experimenting with my EFHW 8010. I have always had a capacitor in line exactly half way along the wire. I never had a compensation coil on the antenna. So I figured out a way to insert a coil without needing to cut and solder the wire. I can add turns to the coil or take turns away easily without cutting or soldering. I can also move the coil position closer to the feed point or slide it farther away. I have made about 14 or 15 different changes and tested each one. My best results so far is having 5 turns on the coil with a 1.25 inch diameter and have the coil placed at 75 inches from the feed point at the output of the transformer. I started with 10 turns and having the coil 78 inches out. So far all of the bands are under 1.7:1 SWR and some are down to 1.05:1. The exception is 30 meters. It is a little over 2.5:1 and needs a little help from a tuner. I’m not done experimenting and will try a few more things. I do not use a RF choke in the feed line and I do not use a counterpoise. I have the ground of the transformer connected directly to a 8 foot ground rod pounded all the way into the ground. To make a sliding coil use a piece of PVC pipe 2 or 3 inches long and use a dremel tool to cut a “J” shaped slot into each end of the pipe. Then you can snap the wire into one J slot on one end and wrap several turns then snap the wire into the other J slot on the other end. The coil will stay in place and not pull out. Then you can loosen the wire on one end and move the loose bit of wire around and around the coil until the coil is tight once again and you have just moved the entire coil position on the antenna. You can also easily unsnap one end of the coil to remove or add turns.

Try 10 to 20 feet of line between choke and transformer. Also 2 meters between transformer and compensation coil.  For 80 to 10 meters, try 130-132 feet for antenna length between transformer and end of antenna. It's all a cut-n-try experiment. Depends on elevation and surrounding objects. Line  between choke and transformer should not be lying on ground or near gutters. It's part of counterpoise. KK5R

Hello Ciprian, I think your presentation is helpful and useful.   Perhaps you have seen some of Steve Ellington’s YT videos on the EFHW antenna.  He has done two specifically about inserting ceramic caps to raise or lower the SWR on a 134’ efhw.  One is titled EFHW 80-10 Modification which is designed for the voice portion of the band.. 0:29 Perhaps you might find his information useful.

Hello, Ciprian I use 2 common mode chokes for this antenna, first one .05 lamda down from feedpoint which is calculated for the lowest band of operation.  Calculations are 0.05×80M band = 4M. I wind 8 turns of the feedline around a 240.43 toroid down from feedpoint and another one before entering the shack. This eliminates rf on feedline. Hope this helps and keep up the good work.

I will suggest that you try adjusting the transformer coil a little by squeezing the coils closer together or spreading them apart. This makes a difference. I noticed you 80 meter had high SWR at the low end but the impedance was just about right and very close to 50 ohms. When you moved the VNA marker higher in frequency and the 80 meter SWR came down to about 1.5:1 the impedance went way low. Some adjustment in the transformer coil will change this. You might even need to remove one turn of the toroid coil.

How close to the transforner is the choke?  You might not be giving yourself enough counterpoise if the wire is appearing electrically shorter.

Chip, you need more turns on your choke. Use a bigger toroid 240. You should get 12 turns on with rg58. Less turns it becomes part of the antenna. Get that choke close to your radio.
I've never seen any noticeable difference on 10m using a capacitor.
You won't get much better on 80m because it's to low to the ground.
The trick with the transformer is to stuff it with the largest wire you can fit on reduce the inductive reactance but by the same token you introduce capacity, maybe this is why I don't bother with a capacitor.
I've never seen any improvement or regression with a counterpoise, as long as you have 5m or so of coax.
Always test at the transformer or you will drive yourself crazy. Get it good at the antenna then you know all other issues are in the feeder, some of which you can't do anything about.
There will always have to be some compromise in this antenna, by its very nature it can't be a one trick pony and do everything perfect. But it's good enough. And if you have ever had the pleasure of trying to tune up a fan dipole on 4 bands it will be good enough for us too 🤣

Try a Bifilar Common mode Choke.
