When a Boston Whaler police boat goes up for sale at a local government auction, you have to buy it! My buddy bought this boat and brought it over to see if we could get it running. After messing with the engine we were able to get it running and this thing was fast! It's was a lot of fun taking this around and seeing what it could do!

One of my favorite things about Luke's videos is that the top comments are almost always people with applicable knowledge helping him out with pointers and tips about how to solve whatever is the problem of the week.

Hey man, those engines usually have a mechanical fuel pump, that functions as a lift pump. The ball is not only unnecessary, it can and will damage the diaphragm of the mechanical pump. When that happens, fuel will start migrating into the oil, instead of the "vapor chamber" where the injection pump is. What is happening, is you are running out of fuel in the "vapor chamber" when the jacked up mechanical pump can't keep up. The "vapor chamber" is just a pot for the EFI pump to sit in and the place for the return fuel that didn't get injected from the fuel rail to go to. This is why you have a few good seconds of sprinting, and then it dies, is hard to crank, but runs great for a short while again.

Luke the vst is probably running dry. It has a filter inside of it as well. Make sure the low pressure fuel pump is running and then do a vst service. Should fix it

I bought a 18' Parker from the NC Wildlife on auction with a 200 hp on it. It used to have "Law Enforcement" on the side. I renamed it "Knot Enforcement" using the same font and color. It was a hoot to pull up on people and see their reactions. The local law enforcement officers even got a kick out of it.

I have an 04 Yamaha f225 that did the same thing. Ended up being the relief valve in the recirculation hose. Supposed to be 10psi which would allow fuel to fill the vst when needed. Mine had 0 allowing the fuel to recirculate through the low pressure pump. The vst would eventually run dry and motor would stall. Replaced the valve and been running great.

Boston Whaler's built after 1959 use "closed cell" foam which doesn't absorb water.

That actually would be a great boat for all your camping adventures and random trips. I think you should buy it. Plus I already think it’s the most reliable engine that’s been on the channel 😂

That is the Sentry model of Boston Whaler. I operated one for 7 years on Lake Lanier when I was a park ranger. It was a good boat. Ours had a steel v-plate along the keel to prevent damage to the fiberglass hull pulling up on rocky shoreline.
