Carrie was the Big to Aiden….

The quality of  nuance is this analysis is amazing. I am subscribing. Keep it up, it’s so rare to see nuance be discussed.

This has got to be one of the best 'Sex and the City' analysis I've seen. It's worth saving. There was so much truth here.

Carrie also PRETENDED to be the kind of person Aidan could love. She lied to him constantly and attempted to change herself to be the kind of person she knew he wanted. And I think he was flattered but it… but… Neither of them could just admit that they were incompatible.

My roman empire will always be that Carrie should have used that check from Big for that apartment down-payment.

Big and Carrie were perfect for each other. Both dysfunctional and selfish.

FINALLY-an analysis of Big, Carrie and Aidan of which I understand and agree, 100%!!  Thank you!  Aiden was never meant for Carrie.  Big was Carrie in male form!

I never liked Big but Carrie and Aidan are so different. I don't think she would have been happy with children or in the country. She needed the city to write in, live in and be at home. Big is more similar to Carrie. I personally blame him more than Carrie for the unfair treatment of Natasha - who Big should NEVER have married at all.

Carrie was a city girl, Big was a city boy and Aidan was a country boy.  Carrie and Aidan would never work.

Lessons learned - or not:
Don‘t try to change somebody for a relationship, first of all yourself.
Love is not enough, you must be compatible.

Aiden never loved Carrie. He loved the person he WANTED her to be, not who she is. He wanted a non-smoking country life tradwife and that's the antithesis of who Carrie Bradshaw is. Unpopular opinion: I think Big and Carrie were the best match for each other because they accepted each other as they actually were. They are both kinda not great people, but they work together....eventually.

Carrie shouldn't have cheated. That said, I always saw Aidan as emotionally abusive in a way. Why date a smoker and say you don't want them to smoke? He picked at her about a lot of things. For him everything is about changing his partner. And some of the reason he struggled with his son so much is because he kept trying to change him.

Sometimes I wonder what would've happened if Carrie stayed in therapy. Probably come to a conclusion that she's trying to heal her childhood wound though being picked by Big and also gain enough self-respect to understand that if a realtionship feels like a bar you're desperately jumping towards, then it's not the right relationship.

I'm like BIG. I need some time away from my partner to appreciate him more. It makes sense to me.😊

I thought that in the movie they depicted Big’s problems coming to their wedding very well and I felt a lot of sympathy for him.

I just got out of a 4-year relationship that I thought would lead to marriage, and this video hit hard. I was to my partner like a mix of Carrie and Aiden -  I love independence and my art, wasn't ready for children and felt bad about it, but at the same time needed increasingly more validation from him after being betrayed. There are so many ways we were different, but it's so hard to let go of someone you pictured a life with and desperately wanted to make it work with. I don't know if I'll ever meet someone who recognizes me in themselves, and who I recognize in myself. But I'm glad I can keep looking. Thank you for making this video and for helping me get honest about what I really need.
