I wish I didn't take friends' n' family's eye-rolling to heart as often as I did when I told them I got a boa at age 40. She's almost 2 now and twice as big as I thought she'd be by now, and somehow so is my connection with her. I never thought I'd get a boa. Red-eared slider experience as a teen had me swear off reptiles for good. I know how silly I must have sounded. How impulsive. How manic.

The boa calms me down. She never shows me any aggression. I try handing her off to another person, she pivots right back to me.

And I knew it'd be this way. Let people roll their eyes. I might do the same, frankly. But I wish I wouldn't have let their doubts feed my own.

I’ve had my ball python noodle Jenara for just over 5 months! Even with the hours of research before she arrived, the first few weeks was definitely STRESSFUL. I wanted to do everything correctly and got super stressed when something unexpected happened or I couldn’t fix an issue (like heat/humidity). I’ve since stabilized all her needs and wants and she has been doing amazing! Her first birthday is in a couple of weeks 😁🤍

Great video! I think the biggest surprise has been the reptile community. I didn’t realize how much of a thing that was! Great to see.

Unemployment brought me here in 6 minutes

A year ago this week my best friend’s daughter caught a blue belly lizard. She brought the lizard to my house that day because I was watching her. We spent the day talking about needing to let him go. My husband told me I should show her leopard geckos. 1 month later and her and I both had our first Leo. Now I have 2 leopard geckos and 2 African Fat Tail geckos. We have gone all out with their enclosures. They are all in fully bioactive 36/18/18 enclosures. Except for our large male rescued Leo who is 86 grams. He is in a 48/18/18. I spent months on each of their enclosures. After 4 geckos in 1 year we plan to take at least 1 year off before getting any more. But I have my eye on a Japanese Cave Gecko next.

Yeah I learned soooo much from every issue I ran into along the way.
I found that a lot of people don’t care to be as precise either which also caused me issues because I overthink things sometimes and am overly cautious and thoughtful generally.

Can you do a video sorting reptiles by humidity needs? Just think it would be interesting. My husband and I love the channel!!

I got my first herp by accident. I was doing a swap with a friend at the time in FL , primarily bromeliads. Received a small clump of Billbergia leitzii in the box. Upon opening the box , saw 2 eyes looking back at me. Turned out that there were four green tree frogs hiding in the plant. Luckily , being an aquarist , I had empty tanks available and could at least house them while I got the needed items for the enclosure. Had them for several years.

I wish there was more information on bearded dragons when I got my first one well over 20 years ago. She lived a good life, but I know I am doing it correctly with the one I have now.

I bought a bullsnake about 6 weeks ago and though I'd had boa constrictors as a young woman, everyone was shocked. I did set up the enclosure before getting her. I wish I had bought a heating panel at the start! Now I have a surplus of lamps, an under-enclosure mat that already died, you get the picture. I did do the right thing by stocking up with frozen mice. I did get a 4x2x2 enclosure at least, but sure wasted some money on lamps!

My first reptile was my Peter's Banded Skink, Areia. I didn't plan on getting her at first, she was wild caught and newer to the hobby, so I was really hesitant, but I worked at the shop she was in and fell in love with her over the course of 8 months. Not a SINGLE person showed interest, so I went off and did as much research as possible (which wasn't much at the time since this was almost 5 years ago, though I did watch Clint's video on them), then got all her stuff and brought her home. She is still alive and thriving today, and I am honestly so happy I ended up getting her; she is a phenomenal reptile. It helped I worked AT a shop with reptiles though, and took care of her almost everyday for 8 months straight before she was even mine 😅

I do agree about spacing them out! I waited 5 years between my first reptile and my next, which is my new baby scaleless corn snake who I already love, but they are my only 2 reptiles. Granted, I have 10 pets total, but still 😅

Thank you for sharing this Adam, have a fantastic day and rest of the weekend

This is one of my favorite channels have any of you seen the 24hr live cage cams on mine?

SPOT ON ADAM!!!❤

😂😂 I 💀 at “can you tell me about your leacheanus gecko 🦎 ??” 😂

The thing I wish I did when I got my first reptile was getting a reptile (still live at home, parents are anti any animal)

Happy Thursday!!🎉🎉🎉

5:03 I hear ya, that bald guy knows his stuff. Taught me a lot 😅🍻

I got my first snake from a friend for free. He wasn't exactly the snake I wanted but he made me want more. I got a free ball python a few weeks ago and he is my second. They are my favorite snakes so it definitely worked out well

I'm very guilty of "Empty Enclosure Syndrome" I have a 4x2x2 that was for a baby bull snake. The bull is now in an 8x3x2 and now I have a bearded dragon too.
