The locals gave me a truly extreme welcome and took me for a ride on their legendary homemade handcar (the "pioneer"). We rode along an abandoned logging line right through the dense taiga.
The journey turned out to be challenging: ahead of us lay dangerous and hazardous sections of track, where every meter could be our handcar's last, and overhanging tree branches literally attacked me with hordes of taiga spiders!
Through thickets and extreme conditions, we finally reached our final destination—the northern end of the road toward the village of Kharagun. But the most valuable part of this journey was the people. The locals shared unique stories, telling us how this narrow-gauge railway was built, how it functioned, and how they survive here today.
