Thousand Homes, Industries Submerged Floods! Giant Floods Devastating Thailand
A catastrophic flood crisis has completely submerged all seven districts of central Thailand's Prachinburi province, claiming the lives of at least 19 people and leaving more than 188,000 residents stranded or displaced, according to official updates from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM). Satellite data shared by Thailand's Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) confirmed that over 500,000 rai of land across the province have been swallowed by murky, fast-moving floodwaters laden with soil sediment and agricultural runoff. In Mueang Prachinburi District, the provincial capital remains under a relentless deluge, with floodwaters exceeding one meter in depth across urban centers. Main thoroughfares, including the critical four traffic lanes at the Prachinburi Highway District intersection, have become entirely impassable for small cars and standard vehicles. Ban Sang District is currently experiencing what local authorities describe as the most severe isolation in the province. Widespread overflow from neighboring river basins has funneled directly into the lowland district, completely submerging all nine subdistricts. Kabin Buri District, located upstream, has also borne the brunt of torrential flash floods coming off the nearby mountain ranges. More than 3,827 households across nine subdistricts have been severely impacted. Massive overflows along major shipping routes, specifically Route 304 and Route 359, have severed transportation links between eastern and central Thailand. Emergency workers have established an active transit corridor between the Three Soldiers intersection and Kabin Buri Hospital using high-clearance military trucks to transport medical emergencies and supply lines. In Sri Maha Phot and Si Mahosot Districts, agricultural and industrial zones are deeply submerged. Low-lying communities, such as those within the Bang Pla Ra and Wat Muang Khao Kaew Phikun areas, have seen water levels breach the first floors of residential homes, forcing families to scramble to rooftops. In Prachantakham, 63 villages have reported extensive damage to property, with water levels continuing to swell by an additional 50 centimeters over the October 6–7 period. Nadi district has registered nearly 500 households impacted by sudden flash floods that swept away livestock and destroyed fragile rural infrastructure.
