Sadly, I don't think ANYTHING will change until we are out of the playoffs again at the end of the season.

This year's defense has allowed more yards through 4 games than Rod Marinelli's 0-16 2008 Lions Team. 2008 Lions, first 4 games: 1,683 opponent yards
2026 Lions, first 4 games: 1,695 opponent yards

Dan needs to call up Jim Schwartz and bring him in as a defensive consultant

FIRE SHEPPARD NOW

You simply cannot win consistently with a defense this poor. Even with a solid offense, if they don’t score every drive we’re going to lose more than likely.

This defense is historically bad, at this pace the lions will give up over 7000 yards, that would be the worst of all time. Come on Dan Campbell your loyalty is going to ruin a lot of good players on this team

Defense is historically bad. You can stop nobody

This defense is not bad enough that they should be 32nd in every relevant category. It’s coaching.

they need to shit can Sheppard now, get the interim DC in for a game, then fix what you can over the bye and ride it out. the cardinals are another team that people are sleeping on, and they are almost the exact same arhetype as the Panthers. Big receivers on the outside that are good, but this time its the best TE in football.

What do you mean this defense is not underperforming? The have an all pro DE, and all pro LB, a top 5 DT, they have pieces, but they are the worst defense in the league!!!

For TJ to say Sheppard is getting the best out of what he has is insane. So lazy to just it’s on the players. They are getting fast pressure yet guys are wide open. That’s coaching.

complete lack of adjustment...last night and basically all season... its all on Shep... Fire him after the bye and reset...

Lang’s take is very weak.  There is too much talent on defense to be THIS bad.  Historically bad.  Worst Lions defense EVER through 4 weeks.  Better coaching has done much more with less talent.  Hire a real DC with some NFL experience.

They lost by one score, could Porter or another competent DB not make the difference on ONE scoring drive?

Most frustrating part is our front line on defense. It’s pretty solid you gotta McNeil, you got Hutchinson, you got Tyleek Williams, we drafted Derek Moore. We got Levi for the other edge. I mean these guys should be getting pressure first of all, especially with two or three guys ganging up on Hutchinson most plays so that means those guys gotta win their one on one line back-and-forth is pretty solid. They look lost the secondary. Don’t have a damn clue. so the defense is putting all the game on the offensive shoulders, which should be fine, but in my opinion, the offensive line didn’t play very well last night either we couldn’t get anything going in the run game. We had 1 million penalties all at the worst possible time every time they start to get some traction here goes another penalty off side foul start I think our offensive game plan was pretty predictable. The only time we really moved the ball most of the game really really well was towards the end when we were running on no huddle. I absolutely think our defensive line and linebackers are way under preforming it’s not like we have practice squad players in those positions idk man it was a bad game all the way around.

I can hardly wait for the Thanksgiving Day Game .
Another one bites the dust .

If Dan cannot fire Sheppard, fire Dan.  He is a poor HC if you look at the lack of control.  All he does is gaslight people.

As bad as defense plays, if offense scores, it doesn't matter. Petzing needs to adjust calls on the fly based on the opponent. Mix up the call. Each TE, WR and RB gets 10 touches max. Gibbs up the middle did NOT work and yet the same play over and over.

We good, we like our guys ..

These guys missed the mark on this one. Carolina has MORE injuries on D and their starting cbs were out. They stopped us multiple times and in critical times like the redzone. They had the scheme to win. We didn't. This aint a talent issue. Its a scheme issue.
