Okay, solo travellers... what is the ONE thing you wish someone had told you before your first trip alone? ๐Ÿš‚ Or if you haven't done one yet, what's the thing you're most nervous about? Also big thank you to Gonex for sponsoring this video โค๏ธ You can get 10% off sitewide on orders over $25 with code chloeandludvig.

I get asked about solo train travel ALL the time. Is it safe? Do I ever feel uncomfortable? What do I do with my luggage? How much does it cost? And what is it actually like sleeping on a train by yourself?

So after a whole series of solo train journeys around the world, I thought it was finally time to put everything I've learned into one video.

I've slept in a shared four-berth cabin in Vietnam, crossed the Australian Outback alone, travelled thousands of miles across Canada, ridden trains through Mexico and had more than a few moments where things have absolutely not gone according to plan.

So in this video I'm going through all of it. Safety, money, luggage, sleeping, meeting strangers, eating alone, what I actually pack, how I choose accommodation and train tickets, and all the little things I wish someone had told me before I started doing this.

I'm also sharing some of the mistakes I've made along the way, including one involving checked luggage that I would very much like you to learn from rather than repeat ๐Ÿ˜‚

This isn't just for women either. If you're thinking about taking your first overnight train alone, planning a big solo trip, or you're simply curious what it's actually like travelling this way, hopefully there is something useful in here for you.

And if you've been watching my solo adventures for a while... you'll probably recognise quite a few of the disasters๐Ÿ˜‚

If this inspired you, there's a whole series called 'End of the Line' on this channel - six solo episodes riding trains to the ends of the tracks around the world. You can watch the full thing here: End of the Line

I also showed you a lot of footage from my solo round trip of America by Amtrak. That playlist is here if you're curious too: Solo Around America by Amtrak Sleeper Train

Big hugs through the air ๐Ÿš‚

Hej hej from the rails! Iโ€™m Chloรฉ - a Kiwi travel creator exploring the world one awkward train moment at a time. My husband Ludvig (dry humour, Swedish passport) joins when he can. Together, we seek out the quirkiest journeys, comfiest cabins, and always squeeze in a touch of luxury when we can (okay, that partโ€™s mostly my idea ๐Ÿ˜…). Weโ€™re all about making travel fun, relatable, and a little bit weird - with a side of scenic magic.๐Ÿ’›

Some links are affiliate, which means we might earn a small commission (at no extra cost to you). It helps keep the adventures going - and pays for coffee when the train cafรฉ runs out of it. And honestly? Every time you use one, it triggers a little happy dance on my end. ๐Ÿ•บ So thank you!
