"Let's hit that second world building"  is getting quoted to my fellow GM friend ASAP.  Amazing, lol

Aint no way this comes out litterally the same hour I finish putting my calendar in obsidian

I read the title and immediately thought: "Same as other calendars: erotic but tasteful pictures, of course."

"What about SECOND world building?"

"For Midwinter sake I must Midwinter forsake" is one of those things Dadi says that makes you realise how incredible his games must actually. Be. Damn, nothing I have ever done in a session - as player or DM - has ever been that cool.

I made a calendar for Tomb Of Annihilation because there is a doom clock, but the players didn't care about the calendar at all.  I tracked days and weather and told them the date in the recap, but they just made fun of the names of the months.  I wish I would have added events like meteor showers.

Two thumbs up for Donjon.

Meanwhile, Grandpa Tolkien: "It's 10 o'clock in the morning, on October the 24th, if you'd like to know."

I actually did make my own calendar, it had 13 months with 28 days each broken into 7 day weeks.  Each month ended on a new moon & started with the first sliver of the moon was visible, and months had an urban common name and a more rural name, and an ancient name.  So one character could call a month "Deer's Moon" or "First Moon" while another might call those same months "Prongwatch" or "Deepwinter", while another might might call them "Seatemi" and "Ardfuarmi".

What I'm hearing is "take the normal world, and turn it 5° off kilter" 😄

Made mine the hard way : I learned how and why real calenders work. The I made mine with Excel. Complete with equinoxes, phases of the moon, etc. Considering that I've been DMing in my homebrew world for 42 (real)  years now, it was worth it !

I made an overly complicated calendar (it's all in elvish and there are 11 day weeks and stuff) but it's just for me. My players will ask what day it is and I'll give them the answer but usually they'll just be like "that's kinda like thursday right?" so now it's kinda canon that like half the days of the week are thursday

I used to stress about dates and times in my game and I always remember this simple line:
'In the House of Elrond, and it is ten o'clock in the morning.' said a voice. 'It is the morning of October the twenty-fourth, if you want to know.'" Gandalf

"A second player character has hit the world building"

Me here imagining the Asian viewers of your channel leaning into basing their seasons around your own nation in turn. And then you have to give them the whole "Greenland is the icy one, and Iceland is the green one"

As a russian, seeing "midweekday" as a 4th day is so scary, especially when it is placed as the third, matching russian.
In russian we don't have names for 2nd 4th and 5th days of the week, they're basically just called by its number. but the 3rd day is "the middle day" basically.
Local names translated literally will be something like "day after not doing anything, second, middle, fourth, fifth, sabbath, resurrection"

Fun fact "donjon" is the french word for "dungeon" and the "j" is pronounced almost the same as the "g" is pronounced in "dungeon" in english.

However, hearing it said like "Don Jon" made me smile 🤭.

10:04 Arkenforge isn't just for the fancy folks who have a TV in their game table. I mounted a clearance sale HDTV to the wall and control player character and monster tokens from my laptop to run maps. It was the best solution I could find to having a dining room table too small for a paper map and a closet too small for terrain. Players love it! The dynamic handling of light, shadow, fog of war, and blocked visibility all help set the scene beautifully.

It's fun to make common expressions in fantasy. Just play with ways of speaking in everyday spaces, or professional spaces.

In my current campaign I played a minigame with my players to make the holidays- here's how: Each player got to create one- introducing the general conceit of why the holiday exists. Then we passed a card around and each player got to add a detail of how the holiday is celebrated (special clothing, special food, decorations, and traditions)

I don't know why but the transition between Presentation Dadi and Desk Dadi made me chuckle. Thankfully I've already solved my calendar, but this is solid advice!

Hey Dadi, could you post a bit more detail about how you guys made the player notebooks and what else is in them? They look sick!
