I plan to visit Sofia this May or June (I am living in the middle of France, not easy to reach an airport 😅).
I find this city has a charm, and I am always surprised how clean the streets are :O :O :O

Sofia(or serdika)became part of bulgaria in the year 809 when it was conquered by our ruler prince krum(or khan krum)the dreadful ,he later made a deal with the frankish empire to devide the avar khaganate and we became neighbours with the franks ,the danube river being our border ,we ruled panonia up to modern day budapes(buda),the hungarians have a saying when they speak for the old times and they say since the bulgarian times,the area became hungary in 896 when the franks start attacking our territory and our first emperor simeon the great(called charlemagne of the east) displaced the hungarians(magyars)from the north of the black sea to their homeland now and they celebrate 896 as the birth of their state..the goal of simeon was to put the hungarians between us and the germans.....when simeon father boris the first became ruler of bulgaria the ancient authors wrote that clouds of franks attacked bulgaria..

I think the Convention Center has been edified with an american financement (Rockefeller) after an agreement signed between M. Jivkof, the president of Bulgaria, and president J. F. Kennedy.

Thanks for the heads up. This week, I might visit Sofia, Bulgaria for the 1st time, I am looking forward to my trip because they use the Euro since new year's day, which is good, even though the weather is terrible and unpredictable. I hope they accept international credit card in Sofia, Bulgaria. Does uber or bolt work in Sofia, Bulgaria, which 1 is the best?

9:21, What, no dinner on day 1, what food did you try in Sofia? What you didn't eat lunch on day 2?
Is that your 1st time visiting Sofia, if so, how is it, is it safe to drink the tap water and walk at night?

The rundown buildings at 3:32 are not communist, it predates the period by a lot. And by the way "rundown" for this particular building is quite a subjective adjective. I would say "preserved" as a native of the neighborhood.

Bulgaria has many more interesting places to visit. Don't wast your time in Sofia. In reality the city is ugly and very dirty. Created as a capital because the region was poor and needed economic boost. Maybe just one church deserves attention . Boiana church and it is in the outskirts of Sofia .
