Origin of the Channel Name
The owner is a bald man in his 50s who loves trains, hence the name "Tetsubozu" (Iron Monk). (Similar to All Kyoko-sensei)
The reason "Tetsu" is in the old form is because it's influenced by the Kominato Railway, Oigawa Railway, etc., and it just looks cool.

小樽〜ほしみの在来線が高波などの影響で毎年、運休になることがあるので、その時だけ需要が一気に高まりそうですね。笑
和尚の言われるように駐車場など最低限の開発にとどめて小樽市街地への単なる乗換駅とする方がうまくいくような気がします。
神戸に向かう場合、やはり在来線で観光地中心部に乗り入れる方がやはり便利です。
関東からの観光客に新小樽に降りてもらい、日中は小樽観光し、夜は札幌に在来線で向かってもらうような観光モデルルートを醸成するのが大切なような気がします。
近くに高速道路や小樽市と余市町を合わせた人口が、越前市と鯖江市を足した人口と同じくらいですので。
3月に開業するときを参考にして、小樽市も開発していくのもいいと思います。
岐阜から新幹線利用を考えると、新幹線全列車停車駅の名古屋まで在来線を利用するのが一般的だと思われますが、マイカーなどで岐阜羽島へ向かい新幹線を利用される方も一定数存在します。岐阜羽島は一部ひかりも停車するので、東京方面へは、名古屋でのぞみに乗り換えなくても所要時間に大差ない事もあり、使い勝手は悪くないです。
その需要に応えるべく、駅付近には広大な駐車場がひろがります。また、主なレンタカー業者も進出しています。
クルマと新幹線の融合による交通アクセスのあり方の好例だと思われます。
小樽中心地へのフィーダーをどうするのか。周辺地域への結節点としてどう活かせるのか。片道は札幌まで行かずに小樽を使ってもらえるような施策を打ち出すべきでしょうね。妙案は浮かびませんが。
お金が潤沢なら坂の上という立地を活かしてロープウェーを敷設して観光に活かしてもらうとかできないんだろうか（色々大変なのは承知しています）
立地場所が山に至る道の手前で、しかもこの道の先はどこの自治体にもつながっていません。登山道になって終わりです。同じ単独駅でも、七戸十和田駅のように十和田市も七戸町も東北町も野辺地方面もクルマでアクセスすればカバーできるわけではない。カバー可能なのは小樽市内でかつ「札幌に流れない側」のみです。街の北側は海なのでそっち側にも取り込める沿線自治体はない。
しかも駅周辺に土地がない故、新函館北斗みたいな田舎の新駅の強みである駅開業に合わせた大規模開発もできない。限られた平地は作業場や集落で満たされていて、隙間がないわけです。
救いがあるとすれば本土から新幹線で新小樽で降り、小樽観光をしたのちにJR函館線で札幌市内なり新千歳空港なりを目指す観光導線ができそうなことでしょうか。反対もしかりですけど、これが定着すれば新幹線に需要が全部持っていかれて並行在来線が死にかけるという道内でいう道南いさりび鉄道的な展開は避けられます。両方がうまく繁栄できれば理想ですよね。
何にせよ天神南小樽停車場線の道路沿いをどう観光客相手に整備するかがカギでしょう。私も行って気づいたんですが小樽観光のメイン散策コースの玄関は小樽駅ではなく南小樽駅から運河にかけての方面らしいです。あの銘菓のルタオ本店も南小樽駅前にあります。最後に旅情あふれる小樽駅から電車に乗ってもらい札幌方面へ。こうした黄金ルートにふさわしい出迎え方が考えどころでしょう。
