Your ability to explain what’s required so we can understand is a real talent. Much appreciated

Done and done! Followed the advice and after 3 sessions i'm tacking both ways, about 80-90% success :)

thanks for very useful video!
Drill 1: Focus on simple glide 1:20
Drill 2: Move wing over head to new side 3:57
Drill 3: Focus on gliding through turn 5:25

The proof is in the pudding. I used the tips and made my first toe-side tacks today. I came off foil at the end each time but made it around. So stoked. 🙏

I listen to allot of wing tutorials and this simple drill totally transformed both gibes and tacks. I have gone up several levels focusing on this drill. Thank you

Just came back to also leave my comment that this was just what I needed to start nailing my heelside tacks. Thanks guys!!!

thank you so much!! that is the best Video about this stuff  I’ve ever seen❤

Hey Gwen,  thank you so much for putting all these tips on youtube for us.  I've seen many of them.  Yesterday I completed my first 10-12 flying tacks, it took me over 6 months of trying to get them, and I've been foiling for 1.5 years.  You have been a great help.  Also Damien, thanks for hosting this content on your channel, I watch your stuff too.  Both of you are legends.  All the best, Andy from Australia.

For me also, the best tuto I have ever seen. Up to now, I've only see the drill to go up wind in order to move the wing
In this video, you first move the wing and after the glide and the turn of board allows to go up wind

i've done a few tacks & it's great with the waves to help, but depending on the wind angle sometimes they work against you.... it's always great to go back to the basics and learn a proper technique 🤙

Thank you for these tips, I am a bit struggling with the tack because very inconstant on the maneuver. I guess your way to decompose the move will be a great help to learn a clean and stable way to tack with success (almost) every time !

The M1 wing for me is the easiest to tack.  When I use my other wings they seem to get caught up fluttering and creating drag when going through the eye of the wind.  Almost like they stick in the horizontal position, whereas the m1 transitions quickly over to the new angle.

Holy coincidence Batman. Feels like you’re making these custom for my foil journey. Can’t wait to give this a try!! Appreciate you brother.

Super!! These steps must be much better then the rush I  experienced while trying to get around…!!👍👍👍 Thanks!

Great video Damien ! I was strugling to tack, never successful, until I saw your tuto and start practicing your drills, and then the light came and  tacks went through !! :):) You are the best !

Thanks for the vid, you guys are awesome. As someone who struggled through about 100 heal side tacks without any success and now having heel side and toe side tacks on auto lock on both sides, you can't underestimate having good foils with glide and wings that transition well from side to side. I found gear made a Big difference especially with heel side tacks. Some wings have a much harder time making that transition while other's will throw you if you're not ready for how fast they switch sides. Also imo, you don't need to carve that hard, you can go surprisingly slow. Thanks again for the insights!

Thank you so much for this video. I'm gonna practices during my stay in El Medano 😎👍

I've been tacking for a while now but these drills like a great way to tune it up. That observation about the foil pitching up as you slow down is not something I've consciously paid attention to but it clicked immediately. Looking forward to trying some of these drills to really dial my tack in when the wind and warmer temperatures return here in Tahoe.

thanks so much !! You would not believe I already tacked by 80% mid of last season and during cold fall time lost my muscle memory and success rate. Now I can restart not focusing on the result, but 3 major steps. Great didactics !!!!!

Great vid - very clear. I found learning heelside tacks that I drive wing thought wind, with front hand near face and keep wing sheeted in, then flip over the head. I used to get stuck head to wind when I lifted wing high overhead in the turn. Love your work 👏
