The reason Sunbreak's intros feel like they've evolved is because while base Rise is extremely Japanese-themed and thus uses a traditional theater style, Sunbreak is European and narrates like short stories you'd tell around campfires.

16:42 For context the reason the music is more sad and melancholy is because the Monster is known as The Archdemon and it's arrival is a signifier of the end times. The event is consistently referred to as variations of "The Devil himself is rising from Hell". It's interesting because in other Monster Hunters when a huge big bad reveals themselves and usually a "Woo lets go save the day" affair. In this instance directly fighting is is still not the plan and the guilds hope is at a low point as they put all their trust in their flag ship to fight a creature they're not even sure they can hurt.

So no one has clarified yet. The Magala Line (Gore Magala, Shagaru Magala, and Chaotic Gore Magala) of monsters are in a struggle with their frenzy and fight amongst one another to ascend (Gore Magala -> Shagaru Magala).

If one successfully ascends, its mere existence denies the evolution of any Gore Magala nearby ("Just as I reached the heavens where I belong, I was rejected") leaving them in a half evolved state (Chaotic Gore Magala) and they're left to fight against the frenzy virus that consumes them.

This is a simplification of its lore but they're genuinely really cool and well thought out monsters. Absolutely worth looking into.

oh wow this time they did put all of them. for once

25:00 the monster was definitely in a ton of pain as it was not able to fully complete its metamorphosis

Figured I may as well give some insight on each monster shown here:

2:13 Daimyo Hermitaur:

Daimyo Hermitaur is a Carapaceon introduced in Monster Hunter 2 Dos - it uses it's big claws as shields and wears the skull of a Monoblos on it's back as a shell.

3:13 Blood Orange Bishaten:

Blood Orange Bishaten (or BOB as the community calls it) is a Fanged Beast introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak - it's a Subspecies of Bishaten that chucks explosive pinecones.

4:10 Garangolm:

Garangolm is a Fanged Beast introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak - Typically docile, it secretes a kind of fluid that promotes plant growth. It's design was inspired by Frankenstein's Monster. It is one of the Three Lords.

5:09 Shogun Ceanataur:

Shogun Ceanataur is a Carapaceon introduced in Monster Hunter 2 Dos alongside Daimyo Hermitaur - it uses it's claws as scythes/blades—the antithesis of Daimyo Hermitaur.

6:09 Aurora Somnacanth:

Aurora Somnacanth is a Leviathan introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak - it's a Somnacanth Subspecies.

7:04 Lunagaron:

Lunagaron is a Fanged Wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak - it's motif is the classic Werewolf. It's biology allows it to improve it's muscle density, letting it stand on it's hindlegs, as well as cool it's body so that it can survive in warmer climates. It is one of the Three Lords.

9:50 Astalos:

Astalos is a Flying Wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter Generations and one of the Fated Four - Highly territorial, it can produce a huge amount of electricity by rapidly vibrating it's membranes. Despite being so violent to everything that wanders into it's territory, it largely subsists on insects. It has a dragonfly motif.

10:33 Seregios:

Seregios is a Flying Wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate as the flagship monster - it exhibits incredible aerial maneuverability. Highly territorial, it can attack with razor-sharp scales that rend flesh. It's capable of firing these scales from it's body to snipe enemies from afar.

11:23 Magma Almudron:

Magma Almudron is a Leviathan introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak - a Subspecies of Almudron that secretes a unique fluid that can melt rock into molten magma. Overall smaller than it's standard cousins.

12:27 Espinas

Espinas is a Flying Wyvern introduced in Monster Hunter Frontier - a MMO that never got a worldwide release - but this game was it's mainline introduction. It can breathe fire, and it's fire has a poisonous and paralytic effect to it, making it highly deadly.
Closely related to the Rath family of Wyverns.

13:12 Gore Magala:

Gore Magala was a "???" introduced in Monster Hunter 4 as the flagship monster. It's an unusual creature who exudes a dark aura—the Frenzy Virus. The Frenzy Virus is effectively a parasite that will slowly kill the host it infects, then resurrects them stronger than before. If the host monster can fight off the infection, they will become monstrously powerful from it. If not, they will once again die. But this time they will be the catalyst for a new Gore Magala to take form.
Gore Magala are blind, or rather, they cannot use their eyes. Instead, Gore Magala see via their black scales that they scatter around the area. When Frenzied themselves, they extend a pair of sensory organs from their head that helps with seeing their surroundings, as they scatter their scales around the area so much that it blots out most sunlight. Monster Hunter Wilds changed it's classification from "???" now to Demi-Elder.

14:08 Pyre Rakna Kadaki:

Pyre Rakna Kadaki is a Temnoceran introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak - a Subspecies of Rakna Kadaki.

14:55 Malzeno:

Malzeno is an Elder Dragon introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak - it is the flagship monster of the game as well as being the final member of the Three Lords. Malzeno's motif is based on the classic vampire. It likes to ambush prey in the night and drain their life force to bolster it's own strength. The reason why it does this lays within the Qurio that inhabit it's body. Qurio are leech-like creatures who latch onto a monster and drink their blood, simultaneously infecting them with something called the Qurio Virus. The Qurio Virus agitates monsters immensely, making them attack everything in sight.
Malzeno is immensely powerful despite it's size. When in it's "Bloodening" state, it is fast enough to appear as though it is teleporting.
It is one of the few monsters in the game that uses Dragon element.

(Side note: Malzeno's theme is amazing)

15:50 Shagaru Magala:

Shagaru Magala is an Elder Dragon introduced in Monster Hunter 4. It is the adult form of Gore Magala.
Shagaru Magala are the antithesis to Gore Magala - sporting white-golden scales that contrasts from Gore's black scales. Shagaru are not blind like their juvenile counterparts, and they have masterful control over the Frenzy Virus.
Shagaru produce a different kind of Frenzy that are actually hazardous to Gore Magala. This Frenzy is designed to keep other Gore Magala from reaching adulthood so that there's no competition for the Shagaru, as it rules over the land, infecting all creatures with the virus.

16:37 Gaismagorm:

Gaismagorm is an Elder Dragon introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. It is the final boss of the expansion.
Gaismagorm is the true ringleader of the Qurio, and use them to gather energy from monsters on the surface as it dwells underground. It digs through the ground, creating massive craters to release swarms of Qurio through. It's depicted as the Satan of the Monster Hunter universe, even sporting a pentagram-shaped visage when it opens it's mouth completely.

17:20 Furious Rajang:

Furious Rajang is a Fanged Beast and Variant of Rajang that was introduced in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. It has no tail, as it has seemingly been removed through some means. Not having a tail actually bolsters it's power by it permanently being in a charged up state. It can also output more thunder power than regular Rajang. It's speculated that Rajang will purposely rip their own tails off once they reach a certain age.

18:15 Scorned Magnamalo:

Scorned Magnamalo is a Fanged Wyvern and Variant of Magnamalo introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.

Magnamalo pick mates based on their horn size and quality. If a Magnamalo's horns are damaged, that Magnamalo will likely never find a mate in life. Scorned Magnamalo is the result of a Magnamalo having it's horns and armblades broken, being denied a chance at mating, and then spending years honing it's skills from pure malice. It's Hellfire can inflict Dragonblight, leading some to speculate that it even fought and slew Elder Dragons to feed on them to get stronger.

You absolutely have to go back to Iceborne and watch the trailer for Fatalis! It was the last Dragon added in the last patch to the game and he was the Final Boss of the very first Monster Hunter game. Fatalis has such an amazing intro it is a tragedy you skipped it!

you dont hear the shamisen anymore and the new voice is because Sunbreak takes place in a different land, its not Kamura Village's eastern tone, its Elgado Post; themed after knights and royalty.

24:56 oh yeah. An unbearable and unbeliable amount of pain

Would love if you went back to World to cover the monsters you missed, since all the ones in the subsequent title updates were missing from the video you watched (which do add to the story in the form of the new monsters)

Hi Kai, not sure if anyone else has suggested it but it would be cool to see you go through the opening cinematics for each monster hunter game. They are all really cool.

The Monsters in Rise are based around mythology. In the base game they're mostly Japanese myths; Kappas and Oni and such. Sunbreak however switched over to Western monsters. Malzeno is a Vampire and it's true Primordial form is a Crusader, Lunagaron is a werewolf, Garangolm is Frankenstein's monster, and Gaismagorm is the Devil himself.

Where most of the monsters are based on Japanese myth, in Sunbreak they're more based on western folklore. Lunagaron is a werewolf, malzeno is Dracula/a vampire, and gaismagorm is the devil himself.

Yes, Chaotic Gore Magala is in pain. Another Gore Magala has become a Shagaru Magala and is preventing any others from ascending. Chaotic is caught mid-transformation, part Gore, part Shagaru, writhing in agony and rage. It's more vicious than either of the other two because it is lashing out in unrelenting pain

Can’t wait for you to watch the rest of the Monster Hunter World Monster intros… that’s not a vain, hope, I swear.

The tone is fitting for the Archdemon because in the story, it eradicate entire ecosystems by ducking the life of them

Dont let the small scenes of the gameplay scare you, those are final-tier monsters, and if you've reached that point, you're well equipped to handle them! For the most part, anyway. Not all of the explosions and the like are that big or flashy, and the monsters telegraph their attacks decently well! Rise is an excellent starting game to get into the series. Incredibly newbie friendly, the monster rock, the difficulty climb isnt too steep at any part  and its easy to understand where you are, what you need, and what you gotta do.
I do recommend you try it if you have the time, honestly. I think you’ll have a greater appreciation for all of the monsters youve seen once youre out in the field with them, and you get to learn how the interact with the environments as creatures...right before you smack them in the face. c:

I’ll do my best to TLDR Primordial Malzeno.

P. Malzeno is the original knightly, silvery form of the Vampire-like Malzeno before it was parasitized by the little flying leech-like monsters known as the Curio. He got infected with them after fighting Gaismagorm, often called the “Arch-Demon of the Abyss.”

So Malzeno’s story is that of a Silver Knight who fought an arch-demon and fell to darkness…though his true Primordial self is one that would never choose that path and keep his head held high.

He’s Hero Coded.
Love this guy.
He wiped the floor with my face two seconds after I first met him.

TLDR, after saving your village from calamity in Rise, a new threat from over seas threatens the entire country, warranting you to join a clan of knights to face new European based monsters and slay the metaphorical demons haunting a long dead kingdom, hence the new female VA

You’ll notice the crab at the start and the storm dragon at the end use the make VA, because those quests were assigned by your village.  First to investigate sudden changes before joining the knights and at the end coming home to face an old myth come home

Bro finally a correct complete monster hunter video🙌

6:10 they lost the Instrument because with the expansion we are no longer based in "Japan" for the story of Sunbreak, we've moved on to more medieval Europe(the filter being gone is for the same reason)

16:42 If you want a different delivery, for Gaismagorm, find the story cutscene reveal, because technically speaking that Ecology cutscene is the second time we've seen it as it's revealed in a second cutscene immediately before the ecology cutscene

25:00 yes it's in pain, it's actually in IMMENSE amounts of pain; To put some lore to it, Gore Magala(13:50) is a very special monster in the Monster Hunter universe, for a very long time it remained without a classification in the universe as it's not a regular monster, but it's also not an Elder Dragon(Monster's of cataclysmic power), BUT, it has the capacity to evolve/molt into an Elder Dragon, which you also saw in this video as Shagaru Magala(16:26) through a very long process of growing more powerful and spreading "Frenzy Virus" until it can begin molting into a Shagaru, HOWEVER, Only one Shagaru Magala can exist within a certain distance(i believe the effective distance is roughly the size of a large country) and when one Gore Magala successfully evolves/molts into Shagaru Magala, it gains immensely more control over the Frenzy virus that they carry, and sends out a "Signal" or "pulse" through the virus, spreading over great distances and preventing any other Gore Magala's from Evolving/Molting; that being said, if another gore magala was also in the process of molting into a Shagaru, it's evolution is immediately halted wherever it was in the process, which then creates what you just saw here in the form of Chaotic Gore Magala, half Gore, half Shagaru; as a result the variant is significantly more aggressive as it's in constant pain of their body being split half and half between two very different forms, and left to their own devices will eventually die as they expend all of their energy going on a rampage. As a result you hunt it not simply because it poses a threat to the ecosystem, but you hunt it in order to give it a faster and more merciful death.
