Where did you stay in Rome, and would you book it again?

I was in Rome in April and based my itinerary on a lot of recommendations from your videos - I have to say, you guys are incredible - the content and advice you give is priceless, so thank you so much for your work. I went to pizza Florida and Antico Forno Roscioli, which you recommended in one of your videos. Both were great for a quick bite to eat with a big selection of freshly made goods 👍

Taverna Romana near the Colosseum for Cacio e Pepe! YUMMMM!!!

After watching you eat that tuna pizza across at least a dozen videos, you have convinced me! I'll try it in September

I was in Rome in 2018 - I’m a history tragic! I loved rome
Trattoria Al Tettarello and walked there from our hotel on Via Cavour every evening for dinner. It’s a typical ma and pa establishment that’s been there for years! Cheap and authentic with good quality ingredients and also decent sized servings. I’ll be returning for sure. On a different note, one of the unsung highlights of Rome was Therme Diocletian and the attached museum. That was an awesome experience. I’ll be returning in December with my DIL who also studies Roman history, so thank you for your guidance on the best way to traverse the city. I went and got old since my last visit so walking will be a little more challenging. Cheers from Australia. 🇦🇺

Love it all!

if you visit the Castelli Romani you can enjoy the exact same experience: there are still bars, bakeries, taverns, trattorias and grocery stores that have been there for over 100 years offering traditional products passed down through generations.

Ciao!

Great video, sir. Thanks for the back up location for when the line is too long at Two Sizes. We'll be wandering around Rome next month. We did Rome the same time of the year last time...suckers for punishment I guess lol

I’m surprised you didn’t mention Regoli for maritozzo (near Piazza Vitt. Emm.). It’s a well-known place, but lives up to the hype. (You have a very eccentric spelling of cappucino.)

Always on the lookout for cacio i pepe. Maritozzo not so much. (fat husband 😆, not one for that much cream); you are so right about Trastevere. We plan on spending a bit more time in Testaccio "on the hunt" come October. For coffee, I' can't go past Cafe Eustacchio even if it has been "discovered" by the Tic Tok set. For a reasonable coffee but the best ciambella (the cake, not the fried donut variety) Cafe Accademia a couple of blocks from the Trevi. Love your work!

There's now a branch of Pompi near the Spanish Steps, towards Via del Corso, I was there a few months ago!

Some of my favourites (a lot in common with your list)

When I get there, one of the first things i need is a pizza pocket or two from Trapizzino

Pizza slices from Pizza Florida. I’ve tried Bonci as well, but i think Pizza Florida is better. I’ll have to give Bonci another try.

Pasta and typical Roman cuisine: from Tonnarello, Da Tonino- trattoria Bassetti, Ai Tre Scalini, Sora Margherita

Bars:
Black Market Hall (Monti)
Wine and people watching at Enoteca il Piccolo dal 1980
A great place to catch the sunset is at castle Sant’Angelo, so one can time the visit around then and enjoy aperitivo at the bar with a view of St. Peters Basilica

Savoury Bakes- either from forno campo de fiori OR Roscioli

Porchetta - be it a sandwich or just the meat. Barretta Pesce e Porchetta is one of the spots i get it from. I’ve tried it once at the Central Market in Roma Termini, that was delicious as well

Pizza- Dar Poeta and Peppo al Cosimato are the ones I’ve been to. Need to explore more

Gelato- my favourite is fatamorgana followed by frigidarium and La Romana dal 1947

The best tiramisù is homemade!

Maybe when explaining where to get the pasts dishes, describe the pasts so we know what you are talking about as you are naming pastas some of us have never heard of.

Tip: it's Amatriciana, not aMAtrichina. Plus, Tonarello is the Olive Garden of Rome (along with Osteria da Fortunata). They both have many locations many locations and cater to tourists.. If you want mediocre food and long lines, plus American style table turnover,, go there. If you want immediate seating and delicious food, go elsewhere. Also, its supLI, not SUpli.
