You are wrong sir! The large knife movement started on September 26, 1986 with the release of Crocodile Dundee.

Little knife for city. big knife for the woods 😮

@thancrus 1 year ago

hot take . the handle feel of the knife is more important than anything especially when it comes to fixed blade... If it isnt comfortable in your hand you wont use it no matter how good it looks

My grandfather would’ve laughed at my knife collection. He ran a cattle farm with a Schrade Muskrat in his pocket. As I have gotten older, I have come to realize that there is not much that I need to do with a knife on a regular basis that I can’t do with a SAK.

53yr old carpenter here. Reminds me of the .45 vs 9mm debate. Dumb. Use what works for you. Me personally, I carry a folding pocket knife with between a 3" to 3 3/4" blade. I carry a Wave on my pants belt, and a utility knife in my tool belt. That's what works for me daily, carry what works for you.(Residential remodeling)

Would love to spend some time talking about lesser known companies making mods for our gear. We know Flytanium, LynchNW, and so on, but what other companies are making cool ways to make our gear, ours.

I also agree i always have a small pocket knife but at times it's very nice to have a large fixed blade such as hiking, camping, fishing, hunting

@LandmanEDC 1 year ago

I’ve been a fan of small, functional knives for a long time. I just don’t buy big knives anymore. Totally agree.

My suggestion for next week's video would be to talk about how to organize your EDC properly. Speaking for myself I find that I struggle to strike a balance between usability of items and the neatness of my carry. So I for one would love to hear how both of you strike a balance between usability and not being obtrusive in your everyday life. Between pockets, pouches, bags, leather goods, and all the rest, it seems like there is so many options that knowing what might work "best," is tough to find. #noknifetoosmall

Taylor fellow North Carolinian here. And yes watching my grandfather's , uncles, older cousins while I grew up carried either a case peanut or small sow belly two or three blade knife. I watched them do many tasks with those knives. In fact that was the reason Case was so popular a well made, easy to sharpen way to carry two or three blades in a package you barely noticed. I have found myself leaving my bigger folders in the case most of the time. I edc a mini champ alox, a flash light, olight small bolt action pen and either a executive type knife or several different types of smaller folders like 2inch blades. Unless of course I expect I'll need a bigger blade which is very rare. Thanks for your content.
Sincerely,
Doc

Cold Steel Voyager XL as my EDC starts to feel small after the 2nd day switching from a "small" 4" bladed folder.

Growing up in the early 80’s the Rambo knife was the ultimate flea market gift for me. The first knife I ever owned. Hollow handle with flint, wire saw and some other shit shoved inside.

Fast forward 4 decades & your channel got me into fixed blade EDCs. Small fixed blade like BID is my new pocket regular.

Taylor I just met you at blade show Atlanta at the ka-bar booth! Thank you for taking the time to take a picture with me!

@Terry4235967711 10 months ago

Have had plenty of tacticool blades but with time I've come right back to primarily carrying old fashioned slip joints. A medium stockman is probably the most versatile and useful tool you can put in your pocket.

@jpdouet2002 1 year ago

My dad built cabinets for over 40 years his favorite knife was a Case Traper. Not a large knife at all and he used to wear them out.

@rickomey2546 1 year ago

For me if I have a 3.25 to 4 inch blade I can use it for more overall then a knife with a 5 inch blade or something sub 3 inch. The folding knives I carry usually have a longer blade then the fixed blades. The reason I do this is a bigger blade on a folder carries easier then a long fixed blade.

I used to be part of an amateur archaeology group, looking for native american artifacts, and you would find a lot of just small, fit inside your palm, sharp sides rocks.....knives or scrapers they had fashioned.....larger ones are harder to find, but the normal is smaller than it would have to be just to keep it from breaking, they were very deliberately small and very well made. Obsidian is sharper than any steel if they had that to work with. Really cool stuff. It's so funny, I like 2A stuff as well that I've been around more in the recent memory, everyone always arguing and fighting with each other....actually getting mad....over people liking different things. That's so silly. The fun is finding the best tool for the circumstances, and it'll rarely be the same thing twice, there is no right or wrong answer. Unless you ask the internet, then everything is the wrong answer.

@billbush1270 1 year ago

I never need more than a 3 inch blade in my minimal knife usage. The smallest SAK covers most things for me. I sorta want an ESSE 5, but I can't tell myself any better answer than "because".

@MichalBreslau 1 year ago

I realized some time ago that I'm fine with ~75 mm blade or shorter. Our grandparents carried such knives and there was no knife length limits. 3" or less was just perfect for edc.

I'm a EOKC! Equal Opportunity Knife Carrier-I like big one's, I like small one's, I even like one's that glow(Old UHF reference)! Having both big and small knives in your collection will cover all your needs.I just got the Overlook form BID, and a day latter grabbed the Dawson Marauder. I'm thinking I need more mid sized knives....
