Jesus prayed for His Church to be one, but unity requires believers who are willing to actively pursue peace. In I Am the Way Pt. 7, Pastor Kevin Hope continues the teaching on how we treat one another by moving from the dangers of gossip, rumors, slander, and division to our responsibility to become peacemakers who reflect the character of God.
Biblical peace is not passive. Scripture tells us to search for peace and work to maintain it. God reconciled us to Himself through Christ and has now given us the ministry of reconciliation. The question becomes: will we contribute to peace, or will we contribute to trouble and division?
πŸ“Œ John 17:21–23 β€” Jesus prayed for His followers to be united as one.
πŸ“Œ 1 Peter 3:8–12 β€” Turn from evil, do good, and actively search for peace and work to maintain it.
πŸ“Œ Matthew 5:9 β€” Peacemakers reflect the character of God and are called His children.
πŸ“Œ Colossians 1:14–22 β€” Through Christ, God reconciles us to Himself and makes peace through His sacrifice.
πŸ“Œ Romans 5:1–2 β€” Being justified by faith gives us peace with God through Jesus Christ.
πŸ“Œ 2 Corinthians 5:18–21 β€” God has reconciled us to Himself and entrusted us with the ministry of reconciliation.
πŸ“Œ Proverbs 16:28 β€” Troublemakers and gossip can separate even the closest of friends.
πŸ“Œ Proverbs 26:24–27 β€” Deception and hidden hatred eventually become exposed, and the trap set for someone else can become your own.
πŸ“Œ Proverbs 11:27 β€” Those who search for good find favor, while those who search for trouble find it.
πŸ“Œ James 3:13–18 β€” Godly wisdom produces peace, while jealousy and selfish ambition produce disorder.
πŸ“Œ Romans 12:17–18 β€” As far as it depends on you, do everything you can to live at peace with everyone.
πŸ“Œ Titus 3:10–11 β€” Scripture gives boundaries for those who continually create division.
πŸ“Œ Psalm 37:37 β€” A future of peace awaits those who pursue integrity and godliness.
Not everyone will choose peace. Sometimes pursuing peace means establishing healthy boundaries, limiting access, avoiding destructive conversations, and praying for those who continually create conflict.
You will either contribute to peace or contribute to trouble. Choose to be a peacemaker.
