The community is so far up their own ass about being "grassroots" they downright refuse to work with Nintendo under the insistent perception of (while true 10 years ago) being the underdog. While i agree that they're damn stingy and cutthroat in their legal bs, but constantly antagonizing them will not work on neither the long or short term. Nintendo is so damn clear in their guidelines with the proper planning they're impossible to fuck up like Genesis.
Capcom, ArcSystems, Netherrealm and Namco were capable of establishing proper legitimate circuits while not compromising local/regional scenes by working alongside fans and TOs anD the players and fans realize that a big magnitude event requires certain ammount of formality.
Smash community is allergic to formal procedures and wants to run their tournaments like your local in a garage or your local arcade while demanding big prize pools, and now they dont have money, manpower nor assets and now with Nintendo breathing down their necks. Thanks GimR

So long story short Nintendo actually sincerely attempted to work with Smash after all this time and effort, Smash finally had enough money coming in with Panda to built into a tier 2 esport, and then GimR nuked the entire thing because it required him to do basic due diligence in running his events.

That cut for HBOX talking trash and then backing down within days belongs in a museum.

For such a grassroots organization, they sure love messing with lawnmowers.

To the smash community "Congratulations, you played yourself."

For a community that wants to grow, they're sure good at destroying their opportunities to do so.

Man, i genuinely hate how Charlie never does follow up vids when the info he reports and reacts to isn't the full story.

I swear the more I learn about this community the more I sincerely can't fault Nintendo for not wanting to deal with it.

I am seriously out of the loop so let me make sure I have the timeline right

- Panda and Nintendo work together on getting a real circuit going and it looks like it may just work out this time
- BTS/VGBC sees that and hates it because it'll end their operation, or they were jealous
- So they launch their circuit anyways knowing they'll get shut down because of how sudden it is
- BTS/VGBC spins it as Nintendo/Panda being bullies, making use of Nintendo's already not-good rep to turn the community against them
- The community goes after Panda, boycotting and forcing them to shut down
- Now there's no circuit, no tournament, no nothing, and the community gets to live with being played like a damn fiddle

Honestly the Smash Community is its own worst enemy. Pointing the fingers at everyone but themselves.

Why is it that every time there's some huge Smash community drama it's littered with misinformation and Technicals has to come in over a year later to explain wtf actually happened? It's kinda funny but also kinda saddening

This is the problem i have with smash players they are beyond delusional on every level. You have 1-2ers saying they need to get a secondary for their bad matchups and then as a whole community, you have them legitimately believing they are going to strong arm nintendo into doing whatever they want. For 8 years i have been explaining to people that they dont have the power that they think they have and it's always some dumb excuse. The worst part is that smash players try to have their cake and eat it too. Its grassroots and we just want to be left alone and while we mod melee when nintendo literally only cares about this one thing. Then its we wish we had more money look at these other fighting games. Fuck nintendo though and we wont show the simplest form of professionalism like get the licenses that we need on time.

The smash community is the only community i know to literally implode  because of stupid decisions. Unfortunately Dr. Alan tried but you can't fix stupid and sadly this is the fault of the community not Nintendo and definitely not Panda global.

Soo.. If I heard correctly...

Nintendo wanted to help with license and organization
Panda said "Aight Bet"
Panda brings it to Lower tier TOs'(Riptide, VG, STR, etc etc)
Lower TOs say "Muh sponsor Money.."
Panda says "Chill bruh.. We all gon eat"
Lower TOs say "But MY sponsor MONEY!"
Lower TOs rant about "Evil Nintendo and Evil Panda trying to fuck smash 4ever!"
????
Everyone loses!

Kinda crazy how technicals will forever be seen as the villain of the smash community. All because the people on top are good at making themselves look like victims

This is the reason why I'm a technicals fan, I don't understand how smashers can be so hypocritical then hate you for telling them what's wrong at face value.

Out of this whole story, it is insane to me that I came out the other side liking how Nintendo handled everything. They did what they could off of the knowledge they had. I also didnt expect to find out Ludwig's "holier than thou" crusade type of tournament actually killed that prize tournament. It is insane that a youtuber who is constantly making bad takes still holds that much power.

And I know its been said to death, but this is now another check on a long list of awful takes and tight rope walking for Charlie "I cannot call out my friends" MoistCritikal.

The entire community is filled with children & adult children, half of which are more influencers who care more about their image & THE GRIND. If that's doesn't sound like a recipe for disaster, I don't know what to tell you.

Paying over $1k to just watch their stream is fucking insane.

Hey, it's me
