It's kind of funny because humans deserve their demise, they choose to make a robot thinking that they were gods. Now, the robot to think he's God that makes things in his image.

It is really quite simple. My theory is:

The Process on how Engineers colonize a planet is by a single individual sacrifice, and it is considered noble clearly by how it is taken willfully and a ship leaving the one behind without question.

The Chosen takes the goo, which breaks  down the body to its basic DNA, and it floods into water. The DNA is reconstituted and over thousands of years, evolves into an Engineer-like race.

Appearance, likeness, size, etc. As the race evolves into Engineers, they naturally transform the planet to develop a society, infrastructure, food sources etc with all the knowledge and history passed onward through the Process so that when the Engineers return, both sides know and recognize each other. A planet with an already knowledgeable populace which continues to support and expand the Engineer "empire".

In the past, this worked rather perfectly.
If you remember the planet David and Shaw went to, it was an agrarian society/agricultural world, with a city infrastructure, and populace awaiting the ship to dock.

But on Earth, the Process did not perform the same way. Humanity is not like the Engineers in appearance, intelligence, nor is humanity docile enough like their others where they don't question.

The Engineers return, find this new creation (humanity) and begin studying them. Humanity is evolving, but slower than an Engineer.

The Engineers all interact with the various ancient human empires across the planet, judging by the artwork showing the interactions and knowledge shared, and begin studying humanity.

But humanity does not develop as quickly, or possess a fast natural genetic knowledge passed through the Process like the others. But humanity DOES possess the ABILITY to access the knowledge, and certain humans begin being able to do so. Healers, Jesus, and eventually Peter Weyland etc etc. Ancient human empires begin to challenge the Engineers over time, not subservient or docile. The human ancient races reject the Engineers, who now come to see humanity as failures, dangerous, and a potential threat to their own existence.

Or perhaps not a threat until humans began expanding into space. NOW they are a threat, and they decide that humanity must end.

In Prometheus, they had only began prepping for a chemical attack after humanity had begun space faring.
Perhaps a certain Engineer group was tasked with removing humanity and placed at the furthest reaches of their space to avoid infecting the rest if the Engineer empire. When this group lost containment and failed, the other Engineers across the universe did not know they failed and have since have not tried to destroy humanity.

But humanity continues to expand, and so it is only a matter of time before the two sides engage with each other, if the Aliens and Predators do not kill humanity first.

David moves like our “controllers”. 9:10

as i came out of theater watching a movie i said, engineers that are at the end of the movie are renegades , fallen ones and that would explain a lot

I reckon the planet at the start that the engimeers seed isnt earth. I reckon its an engineer civilian world and possibly the one that' david destoyed

I watching that movie right now

Good concepts.  Funny I just mentioned this.  LOL.  If you follow through with clearly 2 opposing factions, then a view of one civilization operating under opposing ideologies doesn't really fly (logically). Also I take a mild offence to fan thoughts that because we humans are a violent race we needed disposed of as a little too egotistical.  If the engineer disaster that led to the single engineer going into stasis 2000 years ago, then they most likely wouldn't give a shit about humans at that time.  LOL.  It would be AMAZINGLY fascinating to see Blomkamp get the greenlight on that story as well.  Cheers.

The story is intriguing but a huge mess, because you can’t really ignore the story told in the movies. Yes they seeded earth with the black goo. Yes David went to paradise and killed everyone there with it. But why would engineers visit earth and point to an outpost for weapons? It really needs a 3rd part to make sense of it all.

Maybe they knew they needed another version of them, because the way they did things and mostly thought would lead into ruin. The good ones somehow knowing the next created/growing race wont do things the way they did.

My creator did it for fun...same reason I'll give my kids when they're old enough to ask.😂

Live videos bro

HELLO.

I WANT TO SEE THE VENGEANCE OF THE ENGINEERS GOING AFTER RIDLEY SCOTT'S DAVID WITH THE BIG DADDY ISSUES.  😂 😂

So an alien race fully willing and capable of wiping out whole worlds of life, judge another species as bad, because they split the atom?

That logic doesn't logic, in universe!!

I cant believe people missed it.
The being they woke up wasn't an Engineer, it was a Synthetic just like David.

And just like David it is in the image its creator.

They even had a scene where they copied the scene from the first movie when just Ash's head was reactivated, except this time it was the head of an Engineers Synthetic.

Humans made their own demise. It's kind of funny. These fictional movies mimic real life. With AI will make an AI now where people are becoming more dorsile and more dependent on AI and robots. What do you think was gonna happen down the road when they got smart? And they figured they don't need humans, they gonna do the same thing that we did in the movies, except this will be real life. This won't happen for a while. We do have a chance to slow it down and stop it, but we're not going to do that man is too ignorant and stupid.

Alien covenant was terribly disappointing compared to this film. It felt hasty and confused. And even a little cheap by comparison.

I wish people would just shut up about "The Engineers."
It got boring quite a while ago.

there the deleted scene conversation between david and peter wayland before Vickers push david to talk. david tell wayland the engineer create live form because the engineer has lose ability to produce themselves by mate to each other. so that mean the engineer never seen the woman and tried to create the woman so they'll can produce themselves.

FFS! It's just a film!!!!!

1) The engineers are more violent and evil than humans, because they're willing to kill all life on earth because some humans kill each other. Even Hitler didn't kill all life in a country that disappointed him. He was only after humans, and seemingly willing to let some survive.
Second, the engineers on the second planet knew that was a deadly weapon being dropped, so they were at least aware that engineers had planet destroying technology and they had seen it used before.
