I'm Australian. I arrived in Batumi in January 2025 knowing nobody - no Georgian contacts, no accountant, no language. 14 months later I have a registered IE, a Bank of Georgia account, a tax residency certificate, and a property completing later this year. I was in Tbilisi in winter, not that bad, except cold.
The only complaint is boredom & not much to do after the first few days.
When it comes to winter it's not that bad. Last year was I think the worst winter in nearly 30 years so maybe your experience was affected by that ;-)
Other than that it's spot on.
Can't wait to come back in October. I am travelling to Europe atm and just gathering more and more positives about Georgia 😊
I am originally from Georgia, but I left my beautiful homeland 11 years ago and live in the EU now. It makes me so happy and confused at the same time to see a person from Australia moving to Georgia, setting up a business, and living there. When I was a teenager growing up in a small city in the southern part of Georgia, all I dreamt about was leaving one day and moving to the US or Europe (which I eventually did), because there were not many opportunities for young and ambitious people like myself. Now, after 11 years, I've got a degree from a good university, work in a senior position at an IT company, and am a proud business owner, so I don't regret it, but Australia always seemed to be a paradise in my imagination, especially because I hate European and Georgian winters (as you mentioned in your video - they suck), so seeing someone moving to Georgia from Australia cracks my mind and makes me wonder why?
