Can't help but notice that in Alien Earth the xenomorphs just don't have their signature acid blood whenever it would be inconvenient for them to have it.
It's genuinely baffling how Disney has managed to ruin so many IP's. At a certain point we have to stop attributing their destruction of these franchises to incompetence and start assuming that malice and contempt are what drives them to make crap like this.
They did that dumb thing where the xenomorph is so dangerous that it can kill 20 elite, heavily-armed soldiers in under 10 seconds, but a bumbling drunk when it comes to the main characters. I'm like, oh it's that sort of writing, and gave up.
Fun Fact: The age at which humans are the most violent is not during puberty. It's actually between 3 and 6 years old. It's just that they can't do much damage at that age and are rather easily restrainable. So putting these young children into super strength bodies is just the worst idea imaginable.
The original Alien movies did such a good job with tension, suspense, and playing on the fear of the unknown. Now the Alien is on par with a Scooby Doo villain rather than something to be scared of.
You know it is funny, because alien^3 had a better ending, when the company shows up knowing a Xenomorph is possibly loose. The moment one of the characters threaten them, they kill him and cuff the only other person who survived. Even though the soldiers get little screen time, they demonstrate that an armed human could easily win any situation.
That was in Alien^3, in Aliens, 4 soldiers and a civilian pilot were able to kill dozens of Xenomorphs, despite being boxed in and in a corner of a building they have only had a few hours to a day at most to explore.
You are correct that Alien Earth is poorly written, as the Xenomorph is now what ever the writers need instead of being treated like a DND monster that has a bag of tricks that it does not even need to use to win.
If I was stuck in the Neverland facility, with nothing but a modern 12 gauge, I'd say the only problem I would have is that I would be alone and out numbered by a group of psycho jumped up children who can hack electronics and has two pet Xenomorphs and dozens of eggs.
It is also funny that modern day police stations just use physical locks, cause electronic ones are prone to power lost.
So many people tend to ignore information gleamed from interviews both before and after the show aired. Here's a bit of that info, feel free to go and look for it in the different interviews as they are all openly available.
The showrunner wanted to write a show about robots, yet FX wanted an Alien show. The showrunner has stated this series is more its' own thing as a parallel canon, not following the previous films. The head of FX believes fans of this franchise do not care for canon or "interconnected stories" in this universe. Again, there are even more interviews that really shine a bright light on how this show got made the way it did, not to explain the very poor writing.
This show exudes a "Raised by Wolves in an Alien skin" vibe and never shakes it off. It breaks canon and lore with no regard that it supposedly takes place 2 years before the original film. There is no cohesion or consistency in this series at all, corporations do not behave in a manner one would expect compared to the older films and the suspension of disbelief is beyond measurable levels.
If some of you are like me, a fan of the franchise for 30+ years, then this was a slap to the face. It turned me into an Alien purist. I only consider Alien 1-3 hard canon now. This show made me reevaluate all the newer films under the question: "does it contribute anything to the franchise, or hurt it?" Resurrection was a silly mistake, funny, entertaining... but a mistake.
This show made me go research why it was so bad. And now with that research it is clearer to see how Disney continues to destroy everything they touch. How the "modern storytelling" method ruins franchises. I cannot begin to describe the disdain I have for this show. So I'll leave it at that. This show is not canon according to the showrunner himself. Nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.
