Mostly recorded in 1969 and finished by Jan 1970, so I think it can still fit into the '60s category. 😉

One of rock's best albums. Deja Vu was written and performed during the height of the Vietnam War and these songs reflect that. "Teach your parents well"

Helpless is written and sung by Neal Young about the place of his youth in Canada. Our House was written and sung by Graham Nash for Joni Mitchell when they were a couple living in Laurel Canyon. Joni Mitchell wrote Woodstock even though she didn't attend. 🙂

"Freak flag fly" are lyrics from Jimi Hendrix's song, "If 6 Was 9."

Jerry Garcia’s slide guitar on Teach Your Children is so sweet ❤️

Neil Young, the voice you like, and Stephen Stills were part of the group Buffalo Springfield. David Crosby was in The Byrds and Brit Graham Nash was in The Hollies

CSNY and CSN music is ear candy and takes me right back to that time! When I was a teenager!

1970 is like the 60s anyway. 😂

Joni Mitchell wrote "Woodstock" when she watched the festival on TV. Still reworked the song into a rock song. Joni's version (a bluesy dirge) remains my fave. Nash wrote "Our House" about Joni and himself. BTW, '[your] favorite voice" belongs to Neil Young.

"Our House" - sung by Graham Nash, an Englishman. I believe he wrote the song for Joni Mitchell.

The first CSN album came out in 1969 and would have met your September criteria. It's the album that has Suite Judy Blue Eyes on it.

We all cry in the listening of our past

That gritty shredding is Neil Young. You can really hear the difference between this album with Neil and their previous album without Neil, which is also fantastic and deserves a full listen. But they have a much edgier guitar sound with Neil because that’s what he’s known for.

Stills and Young's guitar work is exceptional. Folk rock legends.

What a fine group of musicians❤ We loved them so much during our high school years. Music was so good then😊🎶🎵

Okay, per your reaction, you will absolutely love Neil Young's albums: After the Gold Rush and Harvest. Thanks for your reaction to this wonderful album, I sang the whole way through!

🌸 so in the song 'almost cut my hair', David Crosby is singing lead. he doesn't often sing lead so it's a different kind of sound.
(also, at that time, men having long hair was an anti-establishment statement.)

@heartoftherose 4 days ago

Growing your hair, for men in 1969, was a statement of solidarity with other men who were being forcibly taken to fight, and sometimes die in a foreign war. People forget what was happening. I was both in the military (voluntarily), then out during this time. He didn't cut his hair because he remembered he "owed it to someone" not to forget them.
