Anika became a professional drummer at the age of 26, but she had been playing drums from a young age, at the age of 6, under her dad's influence. Her dad was a drummer.

This is by far the best educational drum channel on youtube.

Good stuff! I've introduced my daughter to Anika as a great modern female drummer role model. Shes been listening to Rush since she was 3, so she's definitely a fan! Shes 10 now and been taking lessons for almost 2 years.

You're the only guy out there in YouTube land so far that can communicate effectively with this 52 year old self taught nightmare brain.

Anika started playing drums when she was 6 years old. She became a full time drummer at 26.
And she uses the Anglicized pronounciation of her name when dealing with native English speakers.

I don’t understand why you don’t have millions of subscribers. What a amazing teacher and player you are. Also can’t wait to see Rushand Anika in Glasgow next year.

Amazing format, man!

Cool analysis of the accent / ghost note volume relationship. Such a key detail.

Thanks JP! Such a creative approach, and in a educational aspect this is by far what my own students learn the most from. Cool to learn the exact beat and fill in order to study the greats, but when the musicality and concepts are to be learned and implied into your own unique musical voice which is only yours, then this is the method. Thanks!

Thanks JP 🫶🏻

i love JP's lessons because they're so much more about the mind set/ideas part of drumming and less about the technical side without skimping on valuable insight on either end of things
