The "most traumatised bear", Dawn the moon bear, is thriving in a sanctuary after spending 20 years on a bile farm in Vietnam.
Bile farms, also known as bear bile farms, are facilities where bile is extracted from living bears, primarily Asiatic black bears (also known as moon bears) and sometimes brown bears and sun bears.
This practice is particularly prevalent in some Asian countries, including China, Vietnam, and Korea, where bear bile is used in traditional medicine.
Animal rights activist Peter Egan says: "Her life has come back. To imagine her living two thirds of her life in a cage is devastating."
