This 18.2-kilometer self-driving route winds through the deep mountains of northern Tongzi, Guizhou, at the border between Sichuan and Guizhou provinces. It starts at Hanjiadian Village, Songkan Town, Tongzi County, Guizhou Province, and ends at Bajiaotang, Songkan Town. After passing through Songkan Town midway, it turns onto a township road and traverses the core landscape of the entire route — Xiaohe Gorge (also known as Yanyi Gorge, commonly called "One-Line Sky" or "Ground Fissure Highway"). The route is mainly paved with smooth asphalt and concrete, with no commercialized scenic spots along the way. It is a little-visited immersive self-driving route that combines the wonders of karst gorges, the mountain scenery of northern Guizhou, and the vibrant atmosphere of the coal mining industry.
Xiaohe Gorge is the highlight of the entire route. It is a typical limestone karst ground fissure landform formed by hundreds of millions of years of crustal movement and river downcutting. The steep cliffs on both sides stand upright, with the narrowest point only about ten meters wide. When driving at the bottom of the valley, you can look up and see the spectacular "One-Line Sky" wonder. The highway winds along the valley floor, clinging to the rock wall on one side and bordering the stream and valley on the other. The core section is so narrow that only one vehicle can pass at a time, creating a strong sense of enclosed space. Along the route, there are still normally operating coal mine factories, with production facilities and coal transport channels arranged along the gorge, continuing the industrial lineage of the traditional coal-producing area in northern Guizhou, and endowing this original mountain road, which was built for coal transport, with a vibrant down-to-earth industrial atmosphere.
The first section from Hanjiadian to Songkan Town stretches along the Songkan River valley, with rolling hills and sloped farmland interspersed along the way. The border town of Songkan is full of simple, authentic local vitality and is the only centralized supply point along the entire route. After exiting Xiaohe Gorge, the highway enters a continuous steep uphill section, winding and climbing along the mountain slope. As the altitude rises, the view gradually opens up, offering a panoramic vista of layers of distant mountains.
