This has turned out to be quite a long and intense episode—with beautiful yarn, new processes, a finished project, and the first preparations for the coziest time of year.

🎄 New Process—Christmas Lopapeysa

The first project in this episode is a new children's Christmas lopapeysa I'm knitting for Liv.

We've already developed a small family tradition—Christmas sweaters, which create a special holiday spirit. And although there's still plenty of time before December, this year I decided to start knitting early so I could finish the sweater without rushing before the Christmas season begins.

For this project, I chose the beautiful Norwegian yarn Du Store Alpakka—Alpakka Tweed in a deep, elegant wine-red shade #116.

I really love this color: rich, warm, slightly muted, and incredibly beautiful. It's exactly how I imagined a cozy Christmas sweater ❤️

During filming, I made quite a bit of progress—the body of the sweater was almost finished. In the video, I show the process, share a little about the history of our Christmas sweaters, and share my impressions of the new yarn.

🤎 The finished product—a 100% cashmere T-shirt

The second big story in this episode is my new cashmere T-shirt, which I knitted on a knitting machine.

For this project, I chose the incredibly beautiful Cashmere Vintage bobbin yarn from BOTTO GIUSEPPE, purchased at Yarn LV.

And I must say, I was absolutely delighted with the yarn itself! The cashmere turned out to be amazingly soft, delicate, and pliable, with that luxurious, almost oily texture that's so pleasant on the skin. It was a true pleasure to work with, and I really wanted to create a beautiful, high-quality basic piece for my wardrobe.

But unfortunately, the finished product turned out a bit more complicated.

I didn't choose the right knitting gauge, and the swatch behaved differently after washing than the finished T-shirt. As a result, instead of the planned 52 cm width, I ended up with a whopping 57 cm.
The T-shirt turned out wider and longer than I wanted. Instead of a neat, semi-fitted silhouette, it turned out rather loose and flowy.
Furthermore, I didn't knit the ribbing tightly enough, so it turned out too soft and floppy.
And the biggest challenge was the neckline. I double-stitched the shirt, which added extra weight to the garment, and combined with the ribbing that wasn't tight enough, the neckline didn't look as neat as I'd like.

Now I'm faced with a choice: try fixing just the neckline or completely re-knitting the shirt, adjusting the density and slightly adjusting the dimensions.

In the video, I show the finished project in detail, sharing my mistakes and reflections.

Here are my knitting updates for the last week and a half: a beautiful Christmas sweater is gradually growing on my needles, and a new cashmere T-shirt made me think again about the importance of proper knitting gauge, swatches, and attention to detail. But perhaps this is precisely why I love knitting—every new project teaches you something new, and sometimes even the most luxurious yarn doesn't guarantee a perfect result the first time.
