I also have a focus 2005. At MOT the garage said subframe rusting it's about the same as yours. They're just trying to take older cars of the road . I'm also doing your three stage cleanup underneath. I have two drive on ramps makes it easy. Now there is also rust inside the subframes, try to spray inside any holes you can find, also try to unscrew all rusty screws clean and wax them and the studs.

Very entertaining video 👍 hope this lasts.
On my Mrs Focus Mk2 I have spent a little more time removing rust with a wire wheel on the drill and grinder and painted the suspension with Hammerite, replacing coil springs, shocks and anti roll bar links, it all looked very nice in the end. A year later the red hammerite still looks shiny.

If there is already extensive surface corrosion, I would not use waxes, but rather apply some oil, preferably an organic animal oil such as lanolin (Fluid Film, PB Blaster Surface Shield, Lanoguard, etc.). No corrosion converter will completely stop the rust and it progresses slowly through the internal structure under the layer of wax. Lanolin oil is a better corrosion inhibitor and preservative than wax. Wax is more suitable as a protection for newer cars that are still free of corrosion.

Good video, just had an advisory for slight rust on the subframe. Having looked it is only a small bit of surface rust and the rest looks pretty good so will be tacking it using this method :).

I've got the same problem with my Focus. I've booked a car lift for half a day on Saturday, just to save me using ramps. It's £50 for 4 hours on the lift but I think it'll be worth it.

Steel wheels would also benefit from a bit of dust proofing. This is definitely all worth doing to any car in Uk. I have done it with many of my card as routine. ps.. I looked locally to Glasgow for this to be done by garage and quoted £400. Ouch..!
