I took early retirement just before I turned 61, 4.5 years ago, but had been able to have a little practice at staying home and doing nothing during the Covid lockdown in the UK so when I did retire all I wanted to do was go on long hikes. Hence I've now done 3 Pilgrim walks in Spain and one in Portugal. I live a boring life in between as I have to save up for these long holidays but on Wednesday I'm off to S. Korea for a 24 day hike before spending another 7 months touring Asia and the Republic of Georgia. I'm lucky that I started work at a time when government jobs offered a very generous pension after 60, unlike today, so I have the time and, if I save hard enough for a number of months, the money to travel.
Regarding making friends, could you join a club of some description? The only people I ever talk to are the other people in my walking club. Actually, there's another YouTuber in HCMC with the channel name 'Tram's Life' and she's unemployed and is shy so has no friends as well. You two could start a 'No Friends' club. Seriously, she seems really lovely and down to earth and it could be good for you both to at least have a coffee together. Tell her I suggested it!
