Fun Fact: the original premise for the first game was to have Rick be an escaped serial murderer who chased Jennifer into the house, and hence was why the mask chose him (also why his character looks like he's wearing hospital scrubs). The only change made when it was decided to have Rick be Jennifer's boyfriend instead was redoing the intro so he's running ahead of her instead of behind her, but otherwise, the first game's 'feel' is still meant to evoke him being a human 'monster' who just happens to be killing other monsters to get to his 'prize'.

This is the most scariest game I ever played in my whole life as a player when I was a kid.

Wish we'd have gotten a true, arcade sequel to the original. It always felt needed for both arcade Splatterhouse and Magician Lord on Neo-Geo 👍

Came here from the 2010 remake. Man, I'd love for the other two games to be remade as well, Splatterhouse is awesome!

6:12 So that's where Capcom got the inspiration for that giant baby mutant monstrosity in RE 8.

I was obsessed with these games when I was a kid. I love 80s horror movies, especially the Friday the 13th series. These games still look great, even by today's standards.⚰️🕯️🏚️🕸️🕷️🦇🧟‍♂️

You know I had never come across any of these games during my childhood, only Ghouls n' Ghosts and Doom were the creepiest games I played. These ones aren't that bad at all.

Iconic series. I was play the second installment in due course, on my megadrive; in turn I played all original three in the modern remake (in extras they were available).

They were quite funny, and more if you were an inveterate lover of terror in the seventh art like me, of monsters and supernatural serial killers like Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Michael myers, Leatherface, Hellraiser or Coscarelli's Phantasma to give a few examples.

It also had Lovecraft references. Greetings👹

Love Splatter House. I had part 2 for Sega when i was growin up. Those banshees in the elevator scared the ebalivith outta me. I had part 1 on virtual console back in the day. Never beat either game

Always loved this game, console or platform arcade. It was the first to have creep splatter on screen. Shit it was great watching them explode when whacked by the plank 😂

In all honesty, I feel like 2 had better bosses and music but 3 had a better story. 1 is always gonna be a classic, but 2 and 3 are better in my opinion. If they mixed the final boss and story of 3 and the bosses and music from 2, I think it’d make an awesome game for a Splatterhouse 4. Just imagine:
