Things change

Motor cars came and people wanted space not stuck up an overcrowded toilet on the stairs tenement

Tay Road Bridge was opened on 18th August 1966 by HRH The Queen Mother.

They didn't half use the excuse, for knocking down plenty of structures, for the on/off ramps for the bridge eh. Geez!

Especially Bonnethill

Interesting to hear the patronising attitude taken towards Dundee by the media even then. Unfortunately it persists and does nothing for the confidence of Dundee people and the standing of the city as a whole. This might explain the way Dundonians defensively tend to put the place down themselves (before anyone else does) and feel squirmish when anything positive is said about it. As to the 'regeneration', much of it was blatant philistine vandalism perpetrated by a gang of corrupt councillors and their pals out to make a fast buck. They have never been forgiven for ripping the heart out of the old mediaeval city centre, and rightly so.

Bonnie Dundee.

They took the heart of Dundee away. The beautiful Victoria Arch, the West train station etc and filled it with crap houses and concrete faceless shit! Shame on you council!!!! Now the buildings look like lego!
