Since 1946, the Unimog has done everything others can't: plow a field, clear snow from a highway, pull railcars, and ford a river during a flood. Eight decades later, this Mercedes-Benz Trucks machine still hasn't been replaced. And for good reason.

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of this mechanical legend, TruckStop headed to Germany, to the Unimog Museum in Gaggenau, for a full day of immersion: a tour of its origins, test drives of several generations on the proving ground, and, as an exclusive, a particularly spectacular anniversary prototype.
