Hoping CGC can make a push for higher values on the open market. Grading prices are low compared to PSA, grading seems to be pretty accurate, and the slabs look very nice.

PSA is funneling the Beckett money to their coffers and shutting Beckett down slowly. Gotta pump those numbers before the IPO.

Looking forward to your NYCC coverage. Would be interested in the NYCC variants you pick up.

I feel that BGS had a cyber attack and it’s deciding whether or not pay the ransom. First; I made (and paid!) a submission when PSA shut down and then a month or so later they reached out asking me for the payment via a payment link for the particular submission. And I checked my bank statements and indeed the payment was not in my statements so I guess they cancelled my original payment. And by they I mean the hackers. Second, websites don’t just crash like that if they’ve been working for so long

I know for Beckett they’re still grading cards because they sent my cards back last week a 25 card order but I didn’t get an email that they shipped my stuff out. It was a total surprise so I can’t complain too much.

I'm calling cap on SGC's 46k. There's no way in hell people spent $50 a card on them. No way!

Im still waiting on an order from CGC from late May before they changed the turnaround times........
Its friggin October!

Most modern companies would have proper backups and multiple instances of the site running to failover if one goes down. I’m not a database guy but with this amount of downtime my guess would be issues in that area. Maybe they were upgrading and had a massive failure and rebuilding/restoring a database of their size would potentially take a very long time. I found it strange when they put up the image announcing downtime it was just a simple AWS s3 static site that would appear to be entirely separate from the old site.

I finally got back 2 orders I send in February

Bgs ransom ransomware attack feeling like more of a possibility

@c2dholla 4 days ago

idky but i wouldn't be surprised if pcg makes surprising surge before the end of this year.

I work in IT for 16 years... For a site like this to be down this long seems more intentional by the day.

It would be a high priority (P1 incident) for most companies and there's a high probability if it was a change that broke it, they would be able to rollback to the prrvious version.

I’ve been getting 80-85% of psa 10 values for cgc 10s for sports. Which seems strong

@MasterShake300 4 days ago

Yeah, with summer officially coming to a close, less people will be asking off and a lot of the new hires will be fully trained. I image the PSA numbers will get a big boost.

@mic0093 4 days ago

Beckett posted an update on their site as to why things are taking so long. The link is in the gold bar right below the Beckett logo.

34k for PCG is huge

@diversifiedcollectibles9242 4 days ago

I have almost 10k of cards thats been at bgs for over 4 months. Was supposed to be 45 day turnaround. I'm worried, because I need that submission back asap (plan to sell some of it and PC the rest).

@corygeisler1801 4 days ago

Is there any news you found on the growth of MBA grading? Not the little bronze, Diamond or gold stickers, but actual pop reports on how they are doing? I have a few LeBrons RCs i had graded with them hoping they'd take advantage of the mess the other companies are in.

@Forthefunofthehobby 4 days ago

Can gem rate find out what cards are coming from the New Jersey office from PSA? Cause all the cards that come out of that facility get screwed and graded incredibly harsh.

@markstein1916 4 days ago (edited)

Every single one of these videos makes me thankful I collect raw cards. Grading is the world's biggest scam. And shame on Collectors Universe for intentionally destroying Beckett and SGC. That disgusting immoral monopolistic company has no regard for the vintage collector.
