Worth mentioning that SL has 5.3 bluetooth vs Era 100 with 5.0

I like the cost saving as I don't use voice controls.

Good breakdown overall, but I think one important piece that gets overlooked here is the internal hardware difference between the Era 100 and 100 SL.

It’s not just “remove the mics and call it a day.” The SL also drops to a slower CPU and cuts RAM/storage in half (from ~2GB/8GB to ~1GB/4GB), which doesn’t affect sound quality but does reduce long-term processing headroom.

That matters less for simple use (single room, surrounds, etc.), but could show up over time with things like multi-room sync, firmware updates, and overall system complexity.

So I’d frame it less as “same speaker but cheaper” and more as “same acoustic performance today, but slightly less headroom long-term depending on how you use it.”

Would’ve been interesting to see that angle included alongside the sound comparison.

Beam Gen 2 owner with Android. Dispite having mic I cannot use Quick Tune / Trueplay. If I extend my system with 1 era 100 and 1 era 100 SL will I be able to calibrate everything or just the Era 100 with mic?

i ordered my era100 SLs + stands a couple of weeks ago and took delivery a few days ago - i'm using them as surrounds with my ARC Ultra + Sub4 and i'm really impressed - they do the job well enough while remaining nicely discrete tucked into the the corners of the lounge - i doubt my wife would have liked the bigger 300s quite so much... :)

No here’s a question, i have the old one’s as in the 1st gen in my front room i generally pair with my move as i only have 1 in the room. Future son in law has bought me TURNTABLE. if i buy one era 100sl will it take in the signal from the turntable and also pair with 1st gen one??
Thanks Brian ireland

Can you pair an sl with a non sl and only have one that is voice activated

This is a great overview - Thanks! One thing I'm unclear on... I have the original Arc (so no automatic TruePlay I assume), and am an Android user. If I added one SL 100 and one normal 100 (with mics), will that give my whole room (including the Arc) automatic TruePlay)? My work phone is an iPhone, so I could use the old process to set up the room - but I was just wondering if I would get some benefit out of pairing the SL with the standard Era 100.

Can I bond an Era 100 SL and a Era 100 in stereo, and command both of them via the first 100? I mean, to control the volume and some features through the 100?

@Rayqwan22 4 months ago

So I got a sonos arc (Not Ultra) 2 sub 4's i n a 12foot x 12 foot room. It sounds great for movies, however I have no rear speakers. Is the Sonos 100 the way to go or the sonos 300? Another video said the 300 might be to big for the room. I really want to have it for movies and have that Dolby atmos setup, and I am not sure the Sonos 100 would do this but the 300 should. What are your thoughts on this. And yeah I know my room is small for a movie room, but man it is pretty awesome if you ask me.

Is it wireless or it has to be wired ?

@TheRicosauve 1 month ago

Adding another device in my house listening to every word, including when it's "turned off" isn't worth it to me. Yes I know, we already have that in a number of forms...TVs, laptops, smart devices, etc. Why add one more...I'm not adding anymore than I already have. If I need to turn it up, pick up the phone and turn it up or down or off.

Did they fix the degrading faceplates?

If I have a stereo pair, I can connect 2 line in sources, and both play stereo, right?

I recently purchased the Sonos Era 100 Club Bundle (Pack of 2). I would like to confirm whether these speakers can be mounted horizontally, as I plan to install them high on a wall, very close to the ceiling.

I just got an era 100 from Bestbuy open box for $165. It’s dope but I’m already feeling the need for a second to pair with it. The SL is perfect and Bestbuy has them open box for $170 gonna wait for a tiny bit better deal and hope to snag 1 to complete it for $150. Might just have to wait a month or two.
