things my parents never taught me to say:- "i love you" and "im sorry"

My mother once said that she should have aborted me, so i answered "Yeah, you should, so i wouldn't have to live knowing YOU are my mother", she never said shit like that again. If you are as cruel as them with your words (and can handle pain pretty well for when they lose an argument and resorts to physical punishment), they become pretty tame. It helps if you lost every bit of love you could feel for them and understand that you shouldn't accept to be humiliated just because they're your parents.

Edit: I wrote "you should" instead of "you shouldn't". You don't deserve to be humiliated by them just because they are your parents!!!!

Maria is perhaps the most feisty girlboss little sister character in NijiEN.  Also Enna embarrassing her dad is so cute. 😂

...are Asians ok? yall need a hug? ):

My dad when he was angry, once told me straight "Remember I have sons to spare" (i'm the second of 4 boys) and that's something you never really forget. Especially when you live on the 13th floor.

truly an Asian parents moment, they are (usually) also on their path to become better parents, can't blame them sometimes.

Asian parents really are super awkward like that.
My parents had moments when they were really hard on me or unfair to me when I was a kid, but as I got older I realized that it was usually because they were scared of something happening to me. So they nag, then panic when I don't get what they're trying to say because they don't explain it directly. That panic led to them sometimes snapping and yelling at me for this or that when I had no idea what I did wrong.

It suuuucked when I was a kid because from my perspective, my parents were just randomly getting angry at me for no apparent reason. I only realized why they got angry like 10+ years later.

It's insane to me that Maria's upbringing is closer to what I went through. And she came out so wonderfully creative.

Showing public affection to children is entirely a western concept. A lot of asian kids never heard an "i love you" or shared a hug with their parents.

Doesn't mean that they don't love their children but their form of love is tough love

Enna's parents are just trying to not get themselves sent to the retirement home.

SAME!!! 😂 Oh my god!! Are all Asian parents really like this??? I remember even leaving love letters in my parents’ bag just so whenever they go to work, they’ll know I love them… but they NEVER say it back. So when my baby brother was born, I always tell him I love him. Now he’s 11 and he still says “I love you” to me out of nowhere. 😊

The Mari/Enna Asian dynamic duo is so relatable. Holy sheesh

even after 20+ years, my asian parents are still so unbearable to listen to

Funny enough, my dad was too worried I wouldn't fit in as a first-gen so he pressured me and my sister to be "more American". Once I grew up, he began to complain that I wasn't Filipino enough.

I wonder how that happened?

"Trauma bonding" is actually about abusive relationships, specifically when an abuser love bombs and gaslights their victim after abusing them and lies to them about improving but then the cycle continues repeating over and over again, so its not an applicable term in this context, the correct way to say it is "bonding over trauma" which sounds similar but it's a different thing from trauma bonding 🤓👆 i feel like almost everyone uses this term wrong online lol sorry for pointing this out, hope this doesnt sound too pushy i wanted to explain

I brought you into the world, and I. CAN. TAKE. YOU. OUT

Man, the shit I did as a kid to get THAT response was wild...

Typical asian parents 😂😂
