I love the modular pieces of the shawl so far. I can do one of the little sections in ten or fifteen minutes when I have a free moment and then put it down, rather than one row that takes at least as long and may have to be put down in the middle of the row. These almost never need to be put down in the middle of a row unless the phone rings or something. I find them quite enjoyable with all the different colour changes and shape changes, especially the 3rd section, which I'm on now. I did find the small triangles challenging, but only because I was trying to knit them when I was tired, so I kept making stupid mistakes. I do hope that the whole shawl isn't like this, but only because it would be prettier with more variety. I could see him possibly doing something similar though but on progressively larger scales for each section. Despite the edges being finished, I still think it will be circular or perhaps hexagon or octagon when it's finished. We have added on to finished edges before in his shawls. I hope you don't give up on it. Yours is so pretty.
I hear you and feeling the same.Finding it tough going, may wait till next clue comes out and see if it is more of lots of small colour changes I might give up. I have many other projects on the needles that I need doing for Christmas.
I think that you have already answered whether to continue with the West Kal. If you were enjoying knitting the wedges you would be praising it from the rafters and encouraging people to join in. You can always knit it later, that gives you the opportunity to see how it develops and how to make changes to colour placement. Knitting is what we do for enjoyment, when it becomes a chore or we are questioning if it is the right thing to be making at the moment, then it needs to be put away (for a short time) until it is frogged. This is just my thoughts and besides just think of the progress you will be able to make on your cardigan, jumper, cross stitch and sorting out the house (but you only have to think about sorting out the house 😉) ❤
maybe 10 minutes at a time, then another small project in between would help another podcaster is still working on one of his from years ago, and probably won't start this year's until January
