1. Since Krishna was introduced, it may have helped state that Krishna is also seen as a manifestation of Devi only (Sri Lalitha or Shyamala Devi). Besides, in the same place in Puri where जगन्नाथ, there is a शक्तिपीठ who is seen as the Mother of जगन्नाथ Himself and conveying this may have connected Krishna and Devi more directly.
2. It has become popular to pit males & against females very naturally these days - and surely, there are reasons for this but Dharmiks must find a way to convey this in an effective way. There is no doubt that women have a more natural connect with the देवीतत्व and many संयास traditions have over-emphasized वैराग्य as an opposite of celebration. Key point to note however is that in a traditional society, all roles were bound - kids to mother, mother to father, father to गुरू, गुरू to, परम्परा, परम्परा to शास्त्र & शास्त्र to परमात्मा. So, while it is fine to say that women must empower themselves, men may also be told not to be bound by wrong traditions but empower themselves by aligning with धर्म & शास्त्र - message of empowerment can thus be for both 😂
