When you get so drunk on the Dark Side you make the Sith look normal.

Ironic how the True Sith entered history as underdog rebels trying to overthrow an evil empire.

You hear how screwed up the Rakata were throughout KoTOR 1, but to me, the most significant example is the mind prison. Imagine being a political rival to the wrong Rakata and failing in your power bid. Maybe you advocate for abolition of slavery. Are you exiled, jailed or executed? No, no your mind is trapped inside a box to degrade over millennia.

Powering space travel with torture is the most Warhammer 40k thing that isn't from Warhammer I've ever heard

Hunting and ravaging a race so hard they DEVOLVE is crazy work

The absolute best thing about the Rakata? They managed to, somehow, enforce am empire wide ban on animals/people capitalizing on forward facing eyes. Once the rebellion began, it was due to having forward facing eyes that won the war for the humans/human adjacent races. Depth perception is a powerful thing when using proto-lightsabers.

Also I like to imagine that the plague that only harmed the Rakata was likely made by a Rakata that wanted to get rid of the competition and gain power but overestimated the effectiveness of the virus.🐱

I personally interpret the Rakata losing their force sensitivity to be the force itself retaliating again them. We know that the dark side is cancerous, so with how overwhelming the Rakata were with using it to dominate the galaxy they became actively harmful to the force itself and when it become too much it took drastic action and amputated the diseased part of itself. I don’t think it was done with any hatred or spite from the force but done in order to survive.

Rest in peace, Elders. You were the only members of your species who attempted to be a force of good...

Here's a theory on why there was a plague that stripped the Rakata of the Force: It was a response by the Midichlorians, who had enough of the Rakata abusing the Force for their twisted ends. It's like how the Midichlorians responded to Darth Plaguesis and Sidious's plan on creating a being that is strong in the force by creating the Chosen One aka. Anakin Skywalker.

I think the only reason why the Rakata ruled for so long was that the force had nothing to balance the Rakata with. The force was still very new to sentient species, so the force had no choice but intervene directly. The force gets involved only after long stints of the status quo, where there are no likely changes to the Galaxy.

There's something very primordial and off putting about the Rakata, themselves. I think that was part of the idea when the artists and writers came up with them, and in this case they really did well.

@cane6074 1 year ago

Disney would not have the balls to do the Rakata as depicted in legends, they are basically the Drukhari of Star Wars!

The Rakatans seem to be the strongest argument for the Prime Directive ever. Don't give away advanced tech to primitive species, especially ones that are warmongering, enslaving a$$holes.

I'd love to see you analyse the villains from a different sci fi series -- the Yeerks from Animorphs.
