Yes, I mispronounced the word “ensign”. My bad. Hope you enjoy the video anyway.

I'm not surprised that DesiLu was involved. Lucille Ball was instrumental in the production of Star Trek TOS..

Thanks for more Twilight Zone content, Walter. We have Lucy and Desi to thank for ensuring that Twilight Zone was greenlit.

The Last Flight is my all time favorite episode. It doesn’t really feel like a Twilight Zone episode because it doesn’t have a huge ending twist, it’s more like the whole episode is a soft spoken twist but gosh it is so good.

I saw him speak at UCLA in the mid 60s. He was very short, but was a commanding presence, very dark, and handsome. Was I impressed! And I was a regular fan of his pre-Twilight Zone TV works and as well as this show. Desilu was the sole courageous force in 1960s TV!!!

Big fan of William Bendix, The Life of Riley was a great radio show that still stands up

Seeing Ricky Ricardo do the Rod Serling role feels so weird haha

This is a perfect example of a problem that has beset TV and film for decades, executives and producers who don’t know the first thing about the stories they find. Thankfully Desilu had talent at the head that pushed and supported artists and writers.

Rod was involved with some of the worst fighting in the Pacific that being Okinawa!!!   He suffered PTSD big time!

I loved, and still love all Twilight Zone episodes. As a child in the early 1960s, some of the episodes would scare me 😅

Sigh... fine, I guess I'll rewatch TwilightToberZone for the umptieth time.

Also, credit where it's due! We wouldn't have Twilight Zone OR Star Trek without Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz respectively!

What a nice surprise, thanks for the video!

I adore these videos and the work you have done. Its been an honor.

Cool TLZ episode, and interesting to learn about Lucy and Desi! Thanks Walter! We always enjoy these.

I'm absolutely gobsmacked that my loves, Lucille and Desi, were technically on the first episode of my other favorite show of all time and brought the series into existence, basically. Synchronicity.  🖤

I remember seeing this episode when I first watched twilight zone as a kid. I have not seen many people who cover Twilight Zone, cover this one, so I'm happy to finally see it given the time of day!

The year is 1958. The only TV viewing I know is sitcoms, westerns, and game shows. But people tell me "Watch the Desilu Playhouse!"

Not only is Pearl Harbor in it, but the guy just magically disappears with no explanation. And when I ask people about it, they tell me "It's science fiction. The 'how' isn't as important as the 'what.'" I'm not ready for what television is about to become.

Ricky and Lucy doing Rod Serling's part is the Twilight Zone IN the Twilight Zone... cue music.

It's another great TZ video, Walter. Always happy to see them. Just a word from a Navy brat though, "Ensign" is pronounced "En-Sin".

I'm still re-watching TZ on my Rooku channel. Their amazing! I even went as far as to buy the 80s TZ and saw actors like a Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman in some memorable episodes
