In this video, I venture into the mountains to try and find and photograph one of the most curious and elusive birds: the Eurasian plover (Charadrius morinellus).
This small wader spends much of the year in mountainous areas, and spotting it in the landscape can be quite a challenge. When migration season arrives, it's time to scour the terrain, wait, and have plenty of patience to get a shot.
During the search, we'll also learn more about this species, its behavior, diet, and some of its most surprising characteristics, such as reverse sexual dimorphism, where the female sports more striking breeding plumage than the male.
