As a 70's kid growing up here its sad to see what once was a bustling vibrant town centre stripped back to this.  Apart from the sea front, there is nothing left here

I tried to be positive but I only moved back after 30 years away and I really thought it would get better? It didn't and I'm fucking stuck in the Shields timewarp

Drove from the Town hall to The Marine at 9.00 this morning and I was the only car on the road. Not a soul on the streets apart from parking wardens. Well done South Tyneside MBC you have finally totally destroyed the town centre !

King St. And Fowler St. Look to be a ghost of their former glory in happier times.. Online shopping has decimated, UK town centers, and high Streets.
On the positive side. South Shields has a sea front and beaches that are the envy of the UK. @ 19.00 As a kid I used to fish at that exact location on the Mill Dam..

Used to live in S /S 55 years ago, have been back on several occasions, so many changes.
I had many a good night at the Scotia , Criteria, etc etc. My mam worked at the Criteria, & the the Black Prince ,at the nook.
I’m now living in Bermuda, & never regretted moving here,

In the 80s shields was a brilliant. Now the council have destroyed it. Instead of dropping rents and encouraging small businesses the would prefer empty shops. We had binns, Woolworths, marksies tg Allen, a bustling market. Now a ghost town

Appreciate the upload mate. HSBC and Hays travel still where they used to be. Just sad to see plenty of shops closed.
