For me, decluttering only made additional space for me to buy things. Forcing myself to use products that I bought on implus is actually teaching me to purchase consciously, responsibly, and intentionally.

I have never understood the mindset of a person saying, "I don't wear foundation", but they wear concealer as foundation.  Concealer that is generally more opaque and thicker than foundation 🫤

9:30 I used to declutter but I don't let myself do it anymore unless if I finish the product, that's hard earned money going into trash. So if I buy more and gather clutter, then I better get to panning!

When you didn't spend your hard earned money and get things for free it's much easier to get rid of them.

I love that you didn't keep one just in case. You know and are comfortable with your makeup preferences and it shows. I love this for you Sam. ❤😊

Very proud of you doing a decluttering of all your foundations and doing it without regret is the best part. You only have one face and there is NO WAY you can use that much as fast as they released the PR packages out. No judgement here girl! Loads of Love!!!

Thanks for showing us the makeup consumption cycle ! It’s true and it helps us to be better consumers. I’m also at a point in my life when I can watch these declutters and not feel I need to do the same and still feel okay keeping what I like, keeping certain items as a collectors item, and even buying new, fun, unique items because this is one of my passions. I’ve had a year or two where I slowed down to invest in my business and personal life, and then fell back in love with makeup. Now with that being said I know I have products that are expired that need to go! One day I’ll get to it!😅

I'm moving so seeing your declutters has been kinda helpful. Thank you beautiful soul ❤🎉

I think one concept left out of the topic of decluttering is that preferences change and change back all the time. Yes you can declutter and rebuy if that happens but that isn't always the smart or sustainable thing to do. If you can pass something on I say do it now and rebuy later if your preferences change back, if you can't the lesser harm might be hanging on to it.

Good for you!! 👏🏻👏🏻 I'm always telling myself that if I'm not using something it has to go, but it's easier said than done. Thanks for sharing, Samantha! I enjoyed the commentary as well. 😄💜💙💚

I don’t wear foundation…but I really enjoy a light coverage moisturizing skin tint for hydration and evening out my skin tone.

Ooh yes I wore that L’Oreal foundation the last time I was in India. It wore really well!

Actually I quite envy the ability you have of letting go of stuff.
I don't think I'm there yet. 🤷‍♀️

I never missed anything I decluttered and that says a lot on its own. But I would keep them in a box to donate annually and anytime I went into the box to declutter more…. It was kind of embarrassing to see the stuff and be reminded of the cycle like you said😅
I haven’t bought new makeup or palettes (this was my biggest bad shopping habit bc I cannot use up eyeshadow palettes quickly, if ever) in the past few years as I really dwindled down my usage of makeup after 2020.
I think it was slow going bc I was thinking of my old self/ fantasy self and not my actual behavior bc it had changed. I still love beauty YouTube but I just don’t wear makeup a ton anymore and when I do it’s super minimal

I'm surprised you wouldn't want to keep at least one.

Highlighters next please

Good to hear you pass on foundations. You are in a different position because you get PR and what you buy is a business expense, not a personal expense. Certain products need backups, not all. Lip liner, lip products and single shadows of eyeshadow that get used alot. But its usually ine or two colors in an expense palette. That  doesn't need a backup.

I totally understand where you’re coming from. I’ve been working on eliminating a lot of things out of my makeup collection over the last six months myself, and trying to use things up that I just want to use and enjoy, and not worry about too many choices, and things like that. So I think what you’re doing is really great, and I enjoyed seeing this, and I would love to see more. Thank you for sharing.🙂❤️

I don't wear foundation at all anymore either but sometimes I will wear the urban decay hydroponic and even passed one off to my sister and she loves it as well!

All I wear is tinted sunscreen these days. Decluttering all of my foundations was both very difficult, and intensely satisfying. But I've come to the same conclusion that you have when it comes to consumerism and collecting things. I just don't need all those "things." At this point I'm far more interested in looking at why I felt like surrounding myself in "stuff" than I am in being surrounded.
