New series alert! Chill Sesh is a panel show where a bunch of comedians have fun conversations with a guest. And my first guest is a musician I grew up listening to and admiring - Shaan! He has some hilarious stories from his gigs and funny fan encounters. I'm joined by two my of ex-lovers ‪@AtulKhatriComedian‬ and ‪@SahilShahcomedy‬ :)

Shaan’s so funny all by himself. Every anecdote is a full blown act.

Shaan is one of those few massively underrated and under utilised gems of the Indian music industry!

Shaan sir`s smile shines like a lightbulb. And his voice is beyond words. Fuck Bollywood for depriving Indian audience of his beautiful voice. I'm sorry but none of the current singers or even new gen singers can match upto his level.

Remember meeting Shaan as a kid in the late 90s at Guwahati airport, walked up to him to get an autograph and he was just the sweetest. Gave it with a wide smile, asking me my name to sign it

Raveena Tandon on the other hand who was there as well...not so much

One of the legends in the music industry. I hope he is taking care of his health and knows when to take a break. He is precious.

12:55 Shaan is presenting the phenomenon too nicely.
The blunt truth is that mediocrity clicks with the masses and because the internet has democratised access to mediocrity, it outsells quality performances which need education and/or skill or at least being informed to some extent to fully enjoy. It's not even about acquired tastes or complex things like appreciating say a pianist or a violinist. Even Mohd Rafi's or Manna Dey's songs won't be popular today because they are not about mediocre topics. The mass market too has devolved into materialist, consumerist bottom feeding. So in the end, the audience says to the skilled singer: "Isme tera ghaata ..."
