併発する人もいるけど、11歳まで話せないような重度の人なら周りのフォローがあったとしてもまともな社会生活は厳しいのでは…
1. 多くの人が「認知の特性」を無いもの、または過小評価している
2. アーデイ氏がケンブリッジ大学に採用された時期が、他の企業などがDEI政策に力を入れ始めた時期と被った
3. 多くのメディアが、彼の特異性の中で分かりやすい点を「美談」として持ち上げ、それを多くの人たちがメディアが提示した面でしか見なかった
大体この3点と言えるのではないでしょうか。
後半の行き過ぎたDEI政策批判に繋げるなら(もちろん、それは議論されるべきトピックだと思います)、前半のトピックは別の話を選んだ方が効果的だったと思います。
女性管理職の数を～という流れが出てきたとき学生だったんですが、アカデミアにもこの流れが来る、だからこそそういう枠を使っても異論が出ない実力はつけておくようにというようなことを教授に言われました。結局、大学を離れ社会に出ましたが、女子枠などは考えさせられるものがあります。
クレイグさんがおっしゃっている通り、その前段階で適切なサポートのような対処が必要だと思います。
