I thought I was the only one that fell in love with crumbs about 4 years ago.  I love the tiniest and unusual pieces the most.  I find it so relaxing and therapeutic sewing my crumbs. I have made 5 crumb quilts and barely put a dent in my rums.

I also keep crumbs and I USE them to make quilts. Most of my quilts incorporate crumbs in fact. They bring an unpredictable and chaotic energy to quilts, which is my favorite vibe!

I also keep "unsewable," teeny-tiny crumbs and I use them to make collages on greeting cards. I've also sewed them into fabric using wash--away interfacing to sandwich them and  run stitches over them until they hang together as fabric and I've made rugs and pillow covers from them.

That's exactly the type of quilting I do.  I create sections of "body parts".  Then when I'm ready to make a quilt top, putting the parts together is just as fun.  I try to do it so you can't tell how it was sectioned together.  Looking at your quilt is like looking at a mirror reflection of my own creations.  So stunning.

I'm not a quilter but a slowstitcher. So I keep every tiny little piece of fabric. And often these small bits are highlights in my work. I made some crumb piecing fabrics and they are always bright and bring fun and joy. Thanks for your video.

You are a woman of my own heart.  I keep everything right down to the trimmings.  I also teach and encourage my students to reduce waste by crumb quilting and the trimmings are used for stuffing for draught stoppers, toys and pet beds.  A lot of my quilty friends also view me with suspicion when I take their bits.  thank you for your videos and your books.  Lots of validating inspiration.

I save every little scrap for my yard birds. They make beautiful nest.

Thank you Cheryl for another great video.  I save everything; about an inch is the smallest I keep for sewing, smaller pieces go into bags to be used as stuffing.  Love the triangles!  I've made improv flying geese blocks with some and eventually they'll make it into a quilt, but I have a long way to go.  You are in inspiration for sure.

I just finished my 4th crumbquilt. I sort by color and save and use 3/4". Smaller I throw away. I sew them as leader-ender. I really love the look of a crumbquilt

I also keep absolutely all my sewing waste and use it! I take the unsewable pieces and fuse them to SF101 interfacing. Then I sew a top layer of old curtain fabric and stuff it with a bunch of the threads and tiniest slivers. Then I "quilt" the three layers together and use the new fabric to making hanging baskets and other bags. I love it!

Cheryl, we are fabric sisters! I just found your channel & subscribed. I too keep everything. My grandmothers were WWII generation use it up, make it do. It's fun to see our fabric history & put it to use. I also make miniature quilts. Hugs from Vegas ❤

I have a scrap box just exactly like yours. All colors are mixed together. Then I have 6 fabric baskets I made, and they’re on a rolling cart with all the crumbs sorted by color. Love to sew with them! I must be certifiable too! 😂 TFS!

Less than 1 inch by 1 inch, I use for stuffing cushions/pillows for the homeless.  I include the smallest pieces of thread - nothing in the landfill!  Loving your video!!!

I always learn something when I watch your videos. I never thought to keep a bowl of crumbs by my machine and use them in a leader/ender way. Now I'm excited to find a pretty bowl to do this! Beats having to keep looking for my thread bunnies.

I don't mind being a little bit crazy sometimes. So you can guess I like sewing with crumbs. I would say, 3/4 of an inch is my personal minimun so you would still see a little part when sewn wit a proper 1/4 inch seam allowance. I also have donated 2 pet beds to a local animal shelter with my scraps (batting scraps mixed in between work great, too) and having a new pillow going at the moment. I also use "trash-scraps" for stuffed animals or othe 3 dimensional fabric objects. the more fabric in comparison to batting or standard stuffing you use, the  harder and heavier the thing will get.
I once did the sewing scraps on adding machine tape and made a colour coordinated spiral with dark sashing out of it. Turned out great and hung at the festival of quilts last year 😊
