The National Anthem from Sky Wars 2026, the U.S. Fireworks Championship, held September 26, 2026, in Innsbrook, Missouri.

There is something special about hearing the National Anthem under an enormous Missouri sky with thousands of people gathered together and the first fireworks of the night breaking overhead. This was the opening to another incredible night at Sky Wars.

If you've never been to Sky Wars, put it on your list.

Sky Wars is the U.S. Invitational Fireworks Championship and the largest fireworks competition in the United States. Each year, some of the country's top pyrotechnic choreographers come to Innsbrook, Missouri to create massive pyromusicals, essentially concerts in the sky where fireworks are precisely choreographed to music. The event also features huge aerial shells, fireballs, drone displays and effects you simply don't see at a typical community fireworks show.

I've been around fireworks for a long time, and Sky Wars is on another level.

Once you go to Sky Wars, you'll understand why people say the same thing every year:  You go once... and you'll never want to miss another one.

It's more than a fireworks show. It's an entire night built around the art, technology, creativity and sheer power of pyrotechnics. Seeing it on video is impressive. Standing in that field when the sky erupts above you is something entirely different.
