I was a regular caller to the Tom Snyder radio show back in the 90's.  I was on about 10 times with various celebrities and Tom loved my jokes.  His favorite was when I was on with Rita Coolidge and Tom told the joke, "What do you get when you play a country music record backwards -- you get your truck back, your wife back..."  We all laughed and I said, "What do you get when you play new age music backwards?"  Tom, still chuckling, said, "Tell us, Dan."  "New Age music."  Silence for a second, then Tom absolutely erupted in laughter, and I heard him tell that joke twice on his show after that, and one of those times he mentioned me by name, "That was from a caller named Dan from Hot Springs, Arkansas, and I guarantee he's listening now."  I was on his last show and got a little emotional even though he warned everyone not to be, and I regret that.  When his show ended he sent me an autographed portrait with the words, "To Dan Williams, a real favorite."  It was destroyed when the apartment building I was living in burned to the ground a year and a day after Tom's death -- July 30, 2008.  It hurts my heart to this day that both of them are gone forever.  I could honestly cry right now, just thinking about it.  I loved you, Tom.  You kept my spirits up when I barely had anything but a radio to my name.  Well, never mind, I am crying.

No one laughed like Tom Snyder. You could just tell he was having a great time. He is sorely missed. RIP, Tom. There was no one else like you.

People can say what they want, but Tom Snyder did some GREAT interviews, and many of his programs were classics.  ... and yes: HE LOVED TO LAUGH.  rest in peace, you old warrior.

Unlike most of today's ilk. he was likable. Would love to have met him.

His radio show got me through a lot of evening shifts in the early 90's.

Tom Snyder. He made late nights comfortable where you could sit back and have this presence talking to you whether it's in bed or on the armchair

Tom was a true gentleman.

My God.... I miss this type of late night conversation instead of damn kids games......Miss you Tommy....

I haven't watched late night TV since he packed it in. Great guests, and he had class and style. Can't be said of today's crop.

Laughed so hard during the dog stories, I cried! Late night talk will never be the same. Mr. Snyder was truly a national treasure!

Tom was so great to wind down the day with after coming home from working the late shift.  Grab yourself an adult beverage and watch the pictures as they fly through the air.  Thanks Tom.

TOM WAS GREAT, I LOVED HIM SO MUCH. MISS HIM.

RIP Tom, my favorite talk show host of all time.

I'm 66 now, and have watched almost every Tomorrow show during its run. I really miss Tom Snyder. Just one of the many talk show hosts of the past that were truly entertaining. His likes will never be seen again.
