I like the way Casey pronounces Hitman as “hitmon,” like she can’t escape the habits of saying Pokémon names.

Thank you Casey! The sun from Super Mario Bros 3, is the first thing that popped in my head!

Peer, thats a great shout for your favorite dungeon of all time. Forest Temple stands out to me in so many ways, from its music to its puzzles, it was next level dungeon navigation and problem solving for a kid who was my age. Amazing environment.

First scare was Metroid Prime when the lights go out in Phendrana Drifts Lab area. Biggest scare was when the Alien followed me into the vents in Alien: Isolation. I made it through almost the entire game without the Alien seeing me enter a vent, and I thought it wasn't able to follow you in there. Went in a vent. Waited a moment. Turned around. It was behind me. I LOST it.

I agree, Myst and Riven freaked me out

The first time i was scared in a game was a super Nintendo game called Warlock.

Has super creepy music and animations, and everything would attack you including birds and dogs. Now it just scares me because its an LJN made game.

Oh, I just remembered another scare from being a kid.

Festers quest on NES.

When those green blobs would multiply. Or the red things that can go through walls. Or the pink or green frog things that took a crap ton of bullets. Or the first time you encounter an alien in one of the houses.

I can't believe only Casey knew Ben Drowned.

I'm with Casey on the ReDeads in Ocarina. The first time I played that game I was fairly young. So when I stepped into the ruined market for the first time I was so dumbstruck by the change I didn't even SEE the ReDeads at first. So when one screamed and started its death hug, to me it was completely out of nowhere. I jumped and actually juggled the controller in my hand.

Both phanthasmaphoria games were very scary in the time. Was very scared as a teen, but loved playing them. Though my first scare was the T-Rex in the first Tomb Raider.

First "scary" moment...super mario angry sun (literally typing this just as Casey says it haha) but then it was F.E.A.R. Turning the lights off and playing that with my friend was terrifying

First and only game to ever actually really scare me was fatal frame 2 crimson butterfly. There’s a point where you aim your camera out of a window and a jump scare happens where a ghost abruptly jumps into the frame. That scared the heck out of me real good, only time a game has ever really scared me.

Another interesting way they could make progression in Pokemon more open would be to simply have the level of Pokémon at all gyms increase based on the number of badges you have. That way no matter what order you play them in, the difficulty grows with each new gym you visit
