American here. Scottish ancestry but never been to Scotland. I don’t know what people are complaining about. I understood every word.  Love this movie 💕

Absolutely brilliant....I've toured the Highlands...petrol station every 80 miles..... fantastic

This was a good example of a good film that doesn't need unnecessary, long and tiring conversations. The characters speak with their gestures, their eyes and even the silence says everything that is essential. Thank you. This movie touched me deeply. Woman from Finland ❤

Darn, I love this film... The soundtrack is hypnotic... the wind, the passing trucks in the night, squeaking signs etc...

Well written.  Well directed.  Well acted.  An excellent film all-around.

Excellent film supported by a profound story of Social Alination and its effects on the Human spirit. This film should be watched a second time to pick up on the subtle but critical messages. The movie creates more questions than it  answers. Great cast with superb acting. Her facial expressions are the heart of the film, as if every passing motorist is her last chance at life, however, each passing vehicle represents a darker role for her Father. This film proves that the best actors in the world are still out there waiting to be discovered. The young girl; Chloe Pirrie; has been around but remains on the less famous side, at least in America. The location of the film is a Star in itself, and Shell's wind blown face and hair answers to it throughout the film. A two time watch is a must!

Amazing movie. So many emotions, longing and feelings. Acting outstanding

She instantly latched on to riding with the trucker who bore a good resemblence to her dad at the end the kid never would of measured up to her father the only man she had ever loved in her life as far as we could see

I loved this movie.  Congratulations to the brilliant writers and amazing actors.  Scenic as well as serene and could not have taken on such a taboo subject in a more realistic and thought provoking manner. Brilliant in everyway, even down to the point I could smell the hot coffee. 😊 A memorable life story movie.  Well done. 🎉 Love to watch again for sure.

..........well............that left me..........with tears in my eyes..........

BEAUTIFUL, AND SAD 😔 😟 🙁 ALSO THE CAST WERE GREAT 👍 THANKS FOR DOWNLOAD. 🎉

Wow! Genuine acting at its finest. Great movie 👏🌟

What a wonderful, deep, enriching, excellent, inspiring cinematic experience. So full of real life, real situations, and beautiful natural scenery. Reminding me of the plays of Strindberg and the films of Bergman, presenting us with the kinds of choices that we all eventually have to make on our own. Magnificent. Thank you for uploading this film and sending it to me.

Excellent movie, wasn't expecting that ending, brave woman.❤

Beautiful 🏞 Scenery  Scotland🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 at it's  best,  amazing acting🎭 with  many unspoken 😶messages  brilliant  Film🇬🇧

As it’s a psychological drama, I expected a slow pace and moody approach. Was this written straight for screen or adapted to screen from a book? I’ll look into that.

My take on this, I think the father being left with a very young daughter in such a lonely, wild place, was a lot for him to cope with. He has epilepsy and that must be a strain on him already emotionally.

He is dealing with the PTSD of the betrayal he felt being left with his child, and the sudden role of sole parenthood was adding to the trauma. His daughter must have been very upset and angry when her mother first vanished, and confused.

They both need each other, but the relationship is draining and toxic. Out in the middle of nowhere, the same routines every single day. Always the same couple of faces popping in a week or more apart, their life lacks warmth and any hint of a deeper social interaction with family, friends or neighbours.

The two other men Shell has brief but regular contact with are broken and dysfunctional, with flaws and issues. A divorced man who has his access to his children messed about with and a young man who can’t keep a job and might possibly have been sacked from a place that was burgled and he was a suspect.

The father having head injuries from his seizures and panic attacks  has obviously kick started some neurological problem. He over stepped boundaries with his daughter, had this happened before? It’s hard to tell as Shell herself seems
to be overly familiar with him, touchy and showing an intimacy more suited for a lover and her father did tell her stop touching him.

I think he realised that something was wrong when he made an advance, he was clearly disgusted with himself, had he mistaken her for his wife momentarily? The early onset of Dementia is a probability. The outcome was tragic whatever the reason. The little girl staring at him in that scene inside the house must have been a flashback to when his wife was around and his daughter was young.

OK it’s slow, but wear headphones so you can hear this and their dialogue. The slowness causes this to feel suffocating, which is the point I think. We are feeling stuck and like we want things to speed up and get exciting. Shell must feel that way daily, yearly.

I can understand why she left, and with the younger guy sitting there waiting on him. She would have ended up with a no hoper and just through the same motions forever.

She wanted to be free.

I think father and daughter had already done it before the start of the film. Maybe she was already even pregnant. Dad offed himself because he knew he was already too far gone morally.

Extremely thoughtful film. One set of ads in the middle of the film is annoying but acceptable, but 6 sets is damn obscene.

Brilliant low budget movie, with story that rivals blockbusters
