In this new episode of Stories of Idols, I bring you the complete biographical documentary of Albert Einstein, the physicist who forever changed our understanding of the universe. A journey of over an hour through the private and public life of the man behind the most famous equation in history.
From his quiet childhood in Munich, where a withdrawn boy was fascinated by a compass needle, to his final days in Princeton surrounded by blackboards covered in unfinished equations. We will explore his rebellious years at the Zurich Polytechnic, his humiliating stint at the Bern patent office, the miraculous year of 1905 in which he published four articles that rewrote the laws of physics, his rise to the chair in Berlin, the formulation of the general theory of relativity in the midst of World War I, the triumph of the 1919 eclipse, and the global fame that made him the first superstar scientist of modern history.
We will also get to know the human side of Einstein: the difficult husband, the absent father, the guilty son, the loyal friend. The pacifist who twice renounced his homeland, the Jew persecuted by the Nazis who had to emigrate to the United States, the signatory of that letter to Roosevelt that paved the way for the Manhattan Project, the wise old man from Princeton who dedicated his final years to warning the world about the dangers of nuclear weapons.
A rigorous biographical documentary, narrated with care and respect, designed for those who enjoy well-told history and the great figures of universal thought.
