◼︎ In September 2000, at the ancestral burial ground of the Miryang Park clan located in Cheongdo-myeon, Miryang-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, one of the tombs collapsed due to a typhoon that had gained notoriety as it swept across the entire Korean Peninsula. It was here that the extraordinary discovery began. While repairing the tomb, clan members discovered colored murals on three walls inside the stone chamber where the coffin had been placed, depicting well-adorned men and women along with household items.

However, the discovery became an even bigger sensation when it was revealed through several months of research that murals were also painted on the north side and the ceiling, which were not visible at the time of the initial discovery. We explore the impact these Goryeo colored murals, which have emerged as new historical sources for archaeology, art history, and costume history, will have on our history.
